Ziptnf - Sentient Beings [power psybreaks]

I had a goal almost 3 years ago that I wanted to run a half marathon. There were challenges along the way due to injury, where I had to miss the race I planned to run. Today I completed my first one, and I made this mix for me to listen to while I did it.
This mix supplied a steady flow of electric energy that kept me holding a surprisingly fast pace (for myself) all the way through. These are some serious psybreaks, and they will blast out robot battle noises for just under 2 hours. Unfortunately, I ran out of mix before I ran out of race, but that's just something to work on

Congratulations on finishing the half, Nick - what was your time?
I'm always down for some psy-breaks, so I'll get on this.
2:03:37. I performed better than expectations, as my knee had been bugging me for the better part of 3 weeks but magically when I woke up this morning it felt great. It rained on us about halfway through so we were soaked by the end. My old man posted a 1:55 but he's got long legs and about 4 inches on me. The winner of the full marathon was flying past us at around the 10 mile marker and he wound up going 2:24:21. Can't wait to do the next one in the fall!
Nice to see you back making mixes, Nick! Will definitely check this out...
Love this....the first couple of tracks in particular are just mind blowing amazing.

Charlotte airport is a mess, we had a layover there when my wife and I went on our honeymoon last year.
Zippy psybreaks! I enjoyed your previous psy-breaks mixes (Warp Drive and Encrypted Universe if memory serves) so I'll give this a listen and hopefully some feedback
Your latest chip-tune mix (Everlasting Adventure) has been getting rinsed in the car recently, I'll need to dig out that thread and give you my thoughts on that one too.
Good job with the half-maff! Furthest I've managed is 10k, and I doubt I'll top that now since my fitness has dropped into oblivion on account of parenting duties taking up all my exercise time
Close! Warp Drive and Encrypted Universe were both psy-DNB (drum'n'bass) rather than psy-breaks. The difference is minor in classification, but significant in the sound profile. My previous psybreaks mixes are Robot Supremacy, Battle Machine, and Mech Assassin.
Yeah I understand about life getting in the way... I only made 1 mix last year because I spent all my time getting engaged, buying a house, getting married, and switching jobs
Could be useful to get back into it though! If you can find a time to set aside a few times a week to go out and run, you'd be surprised how much your fitness improves. I also suggest loading up your phone/mp3 player with mixes from TA so that you have stuff to listen to. It's how I get all my mix-listening done
I look forward to your reply!
ahhh shiit, this mix is the shit. thank you so much for it.ima rip this to cd and put her in the car stereo
Glad to see more of your mixes coming through. Really enjoyed this one.

I will get round to listening to this in full. Just need to find the time.
No worries, Jack. I appreciate you setting aside the time either way.
It took three attempts, but I've finally listened to this. I thought it was pretty strong and consistent throughout. You came out of the traps on fire with the first five or so tracks, which were all slamming. After that it calmed down a bit and I generally felt that the mix alternated between a decent track and then a banger, a decent track and then another banger. That said, the only track that annoyed me was X-Dream - The 1st (Far Too Loud Re-fix) and even the "decent" tracks kept the momentum going. What I appreciated most was the lack of over-wrought psy breakdowns.I note you like to finish on big dramatic videogame-y sounding tracks and this mix was no exception.
Personally I wouldn't find this ideal running music, despite having plenty of energy and momentum. I like the big sweeping flow of trance and progressive when I'm running. Breaks like this have a bit too much swing in them to drive me forwards. I always like to put your breaks mixes on when I'm ironing or something similar. This one had me dancing around the ironing board at several moments, so good work.
See, I think that's a different strokes kinda thing for you and I then, because when I am doing training runs I love trance but a big long belter like this mix was great for the race I ran. I was absolutely loaded with adrenaline and the mix went along perfectly. Certainly memorable for me, and I have come to terms with the things I like and dislike about this particular mix: I feel like the last 3 tracks are disappointing compared to what I had set it up for. Also Dragon's Hunt was poorly placed, if not a complete mistake to include altogether. The transition into it was miserable. Other than that I think it's my best psybreaks mix.
I'm glad you mentioned the lack of breakdowns here, while there are a few they do not do the silly energy-reset thing that the psytrance producers do. It's perfect for the style that it jumps right back in after breaking down.
Also, I get what you're saying about the decent track into banger into decent track. I think I felt like I had to do that since this mix was spread out a little further than I would have typically liked. If I wasn't making this for a 2hr marathon then I would have probably cut 5-6 tracks to make it more consistent.
Thanks again for the listen mate. Fly to the states and compete in a marathon, I'll do it with you!
I won't be doing another marathon for some time. My hamstrings are still tight as razor wire from the cumulative effect of training for the last one. I picked up a small injury four weeks out and my training evaporated, which made the race itself a whole world of pain.
Sorry to hear that, Jack. I'm no stranger to injury. Just take it slow getting back in, but you'll get there eventually
I'm not injured right now, I just have incredibly tight hamstrings. I need to get into stretching or yoga or somesuch - I was never very flexible, but now it's a joke.
I'm taking a break from running. I bought a bicycle recently and I cycle to work now, which is my 50 minutes of exercise a day. I'm sure I'll go back to running, but having achieved a life-long goal of running a marathon it's quite hard to find motivation to just go for a few miles after work. I'm now ploughing all my time into trying to achieve my other life-long goal: writing a novel.
Yoga is great. Be consistent with it and your body will feel like a million bucks. My brother is all locked into doing a triathlon, him and his friends are insisting that I train too but that's a little further away than I'm ready for
Good luck on the novel!
Last bump before thread graveyard. Dave, still haven't heard from you!
Downloading....love the cover.
This mix was the bomb, never got to hear a mix longs worth of psy breaks before, will edit this post with full review mixing + eq was perfect couldn't even tell when layered bass drum was coming in
