i think it is great that they acknowledge these djs but how can they compare music from genres that are so varied? isn't it a matter of taste?

eehhhh fuck the charts

Posted by Taub on Oct-31-2002 16:21:

Might i add that this is not the offical DJ mag top 100....its not even on their site as of yet

OK people. Back off Tiesto First of all the results are not even official yet. Second of all, this poll does not say who is the BEST DJ.. It merely shows who is the MOST POPULAR DJ. Now, you can flame Tiesto all you want, but there is no denying that he is VERY VERY VERY popular ! Dare I say, more popular than PVD ! Not better, more popular.

Personally if this is true, and Tiesto is #1, I'll very very happy. First of all it shows that Trance is still #1 genre of electronic music, and second of all it gets boring Sasha and Digweed off #1 spot. Of course you could argue that PVD should be #1. But then again I don't think many people want to vote for PVD because he's been around in top 10 for so many years now, whereas Tiesto has been in top 100 for only 2 years prior to this year's results.

I personally voted for Tiesto to be #1. Not because he was my favourite DJ this year(in fact, he probably wasn't even in my top 3 favourite DJs this year), but because the guy deserves to be #1. In 2000, when he was at his peak and was really better than any other DJs around, he was only ranked 25th or something. Was that fair? NO!

Besides you should be happy. The lower the rank of your favourite DJ, the greater are the chances that he'll be booked at your local club(cause he won't be as busy), and the admission should also be cheaper(demand-supply).

PvD isnt that good either, much more talented djs out there who arent popular as them...the list gets very boring, every year its about the same top 10 djs, they basically play the same style....80% of those djs on there are trance or prog

Thats just funny, because he should have been on the top in 2000 so he should be up there now? so what about the dj who should be up there now for the work he has done...will he get to be number one in 2004? tiesto has done nothing that impreeses anyone

i mean come on...Marco v at #29 and tiesto and armin are in the top 5

Posted by Twilo99 on Nov-01-2002 00:30:

No Jonathan Peters. Comeon, that guy is bringing in 3000 people every Saturday at SF. When it comes to house, he's as good as it gets.
I definitely like Scott Bond over Sasha.

indeed.. seeing people like Hawtin, who can mix extraordinarily well be placed below dave clark (yawn) is just wrong..

where is Liebing?
why is Sven at55???

as per usual, my statement shall be "this is retarded as all DJ rankings, as it matters whom you like the most and not what some stupid magazine says. If you really care about the music, you will find DJ's you like and DJ's u don't like and make up your own oppinion. If you only go to see [insert DJ name] because he/she is on that list so that you can show all your friends how 'cool' you are, then there is something wrong. if u notice a dj on there and go to see how he is, then it is a good promo for that DJ!"

Posted by arleetec on Nov-01-2002 06:47:

How come DJ Tek's name is not on the list??
