Recording?
Looking to record some mixes onto my laptop. Not sure what processor speed it is, but it has 256K memory. What do some of you guys use out there and what do ya suggest with my limited recources given that I cannot upgrade the memory? right now im trying the normal windows recording stuff in the applications. anything i can use that dosent use much memory.
total recorder, use an mp3 encoded with it.

another alternative, cooledit, or soundforge.. works pretty well for me to!
If you can find it, try Iomega RecordIt, Works really well for slower computers!!
256k
i think you mean 256 MB
Soundforge is the way to go.
Yeah I think that I have to agree with Dj Phu......Soundforge is the best one to use.....I tried the adaptec one and it is alrite....records with too much bass though...
okies got a hold of sound forge 4.0(dont ask how
) but not im haveing troubles with the volume. when i record, its constantly in the red zone, i played with it and my mixer has to be really low in order to prevent this. i know nothing about the program too. anyone help? =)
try checking the rec. level on the program yo..
i see ur from h-town, what skoo do you go to..?
goin to Baytoen community for now, nothing big but its free
hoping to head on to UofH or somewhere next fall.

my suggestion would be to not use your unreliable computer for recording and instead get an MP3 recorder. There are some out there that aren't too bad in price and the quality is going to be about what you would get with your soundcard if not better. Though if you can't afford more RAM when it is at one of it's all time lows, then I doubt that you can afford an MP3 recorder.
