washing your hands

I have always have to wash my hands before I spin or else it feels like im getting my records dirty, anyone else do the same thing??

Posted by prestige on Nov-01-2002 04:33:

acctually, it makes sense to wash ur hands before u spin...i do it every time. it prevents dirt and finger oil from messin up ur tracks.

exactly... less junk to get in the grooves.
it's especially important if you just munched out, and you've got grease/oil/other crap on your fingers

Thing is when im spinning at home i always wash my hands before. But for some reason my hands become dry and im always licking my fingers while mixing just to get a grip on my vinyl. Either that or use some hand cream

ill only wash my hands if they're greasy or something

i hate spinning just after i get out of the shower though
my hands are really dry and the feeling of my dry fingers on the vinyl makes me gag

yes its nice to keep your hands clean. Just in case.

I wash them before because i use the spindle to beatmatch, and when my fingers are oily i cant grip it, i rarely touch my vinyl, only when cueing and taking it on and off the deck,

also grease on ur fingers is no good for your mixer knobs either, if their painted theyll peel a lot faster if u dont keep ur hands clean.

hehehe

I actually keep a bowl w/ a wet rag beside my tables when I spin at home or out in the public.

I had a case when I forgot to wash my hands and grease got into the groove of a record I was playing and it kept on repeating at the same part for about 5 minutes. I didn't know this but everytime I looked over there at the record, I was like, DAMN, this is a long as record but I finaly figured that it was not moving through the groove and fixed the problem. Hehehe, nobody noticed they thought I was doing some effects and stuff to the track.

Nah, I was talking to this girl and time got alittle carried away. Somehow, where it was repeating, it was 12345678 repeat 12345678 and so on so it actually sounded like the song was playing through but then I thought that this 5 min. trk turned to be a 10 min. trk so I figured something was wrong....
