-- about posting replies

Ahem... I felt like I needed to state this since the quality of posts has dropped sharply lately;
THINK before you post!
Think what?
1. do perhaps even 1000+ people want to see some thread at top position just because you replied to it by saying "yeah, lol!" or something equally meaningful and informative. Nothing wrong with it really but when too many people start doing it, you end up reading 150 new replies/posts and they are all _total_ bs.
2. don't flame/insult people personally. It's ok to debate and have different opinions but stupid flaming in adolescent manner only makes you look like an ass.
3. this is NOT a contest regarding the number of posts you have. Please, for God's sake, don't post fucking crap just because you want to look cool with our #XYZ post count.
4. use a private message if the message doesn't really concern other people than the one you are addressing it to
just my 2 cents
peace
yeah, you're right mindbender. i agree with you. most of the time, posts on here kinda end up like a conversation amongst TAs, so you kinda get some 'bs' posts because people like to express themselves by laughing at someone's jokes or agreeing, because the thread becomes a conversation ya know? i'm not saying that all of them are like that or anything. i know i do it sometimes meself.
i agree with #2-4. but people arent going to follow any guidelines on what they can and can not post, when it becomes a matter of what some people just dont want to see. i read threads where the whole thing was one post with a bunch of lols and bullshit. but i personally have bigger things in life to get upset about so i just dont sweat shit like that. it takes a while to go through all the shit but i know i post stupid shit sometimes so im not going to hold it against all the other people who do it too. and anyways all work and no play.. well you know the saying. but hopefully this thread will help cut down on some of the bullshit for now. but as the amount of TAs keeps growing, threads like this may just become meaningles. peace!!
The metaphysical ramifications of this thread subconsciously tampers with the stability of time and space. Thus rupturing previous notions pertaining to the physiological homeostasis of the mind, body & soul.

yes i did just do that to piss u off
thing is when we say all this about not posting bullshit... its a matter of where u draw the line of bullshitness. A thread can turn into a conversation quite easil, so long as that conversation is still to do with the original topic of the thread i dont see the harm in it. Because that way (as opposed to pm's) someone else can add to it..
I d get ur point though dood
and i 100% agree this isnt a post race. the posts consisting of heheh... lol... are pretty pointless
peace
i dont know.. but this is the chill-out room
all these topics and replies dont really have to make real sense or try to better the world or something... they're mostly to chill-out
ok, funny-topic-threads dont really belong in de unknowntrackssection, or in the music discussion (if they're not about music) but other than that, it doesnt really matter, does it?
ADK
In some points you're right I think...For the personal things its not nescessary to post a reply and posts like "lol, funny" arent very informative...
But this is the Chill-Out Room...like ADK said...its just to chill-out, so I dont care or posts are informative in here...
lol you mean like this??
lol jk.
well i guess so.. i do it sometimes.. but its not always deliberate.. and i guess that goes the same with other people too?
the quality of the posts i guess reflects the boredom of people perhaps?
I'm totaly cool with the no-flaming part and the fact that this is no contest in having most posts. Also the private message thing if it's something that absolutely noone have any interest of..
About posting bullshit i can't complain THAT much, because i do it myself sometimes, but to a certain point. It's not like i look in every thread to say lol or something as meaningful, but when i'm tired and have nothing to do i might post something that isn't that thoughful and intelligent
And sometimes a lol can be appropiate. A while a ago i read something really hilarious and i laughed my ass off, and my only reply to that was lol, cuz i was doing excactly that

| Originally posted by JdDark and now in plain english please I agree with you, there are people (and I'm not going to name them, lol) who post a lot of things that are meaningless. there are also people who post shit that are just way too offensive towards other people, and I don't like seeing that. I know my post are rather small most of the times, that's because I can say my point of view in just a few sentences, I don't need a page to tell what I want to tell. |
I totally agree with you there Mindbender... it can be really annoying spitting through all those threads with new posts and in the end you find out that the only new post was something meaningless like the example you already mentioned. Some people indeed seem to post just to increase their posts-amount.
Also I agree with your statement that the quality of posts/threads have dropped sharply. The reason is the huge amount of members, but there's nothing to do about it! Think we have to deal with it...
I think this could be the reason some veteran members aren't with us anymore.
And ADK and -=WVG=- : this also concerns the other sections and not only the Chill-Out Zone.
Laterz!
But hey, no hard feelings!! Just some constructive criticism! (is this the right word?)
my posts tend to come off as condescending tutorial essays at times
so i will shorten to
haha, lol, good one, j/k!
someone said that they thought the quaity of posts has gone down... i dont think it has, u just have to dig thru more lol... theres so many ppl on here now so theres still the same amount of quality but maybe u have to look harder for it
peace
i know it's opinionated (that a word?) n all
but often people just churn out a repeat of the person before them.
instead for example.. just say: "Yeah!, exactly what so-n-so said"
then if you wanna add something just say: "aslo...... i think"
cos i hate going through an opinion thread when reading huge messages and finding that it's exactly what this other guy said!!
just my rant. dont take it to seriously.
Well,I don't see wha's wrong with those small posts, thi sis a forum, poeple should express themselves, how they feel and must be able to do what they want,we live in free countries after all, anyways there are moderators on this forum,if they don't delete those posts,it's that it doesn't decreases the quality of the forum, and it isn't that hard at all to scroll down a small post. The internet and trance, are classified to me(and I don't think that besides those who work with it,see this in a different way) as leasure so,why don't you let those people do their thing lik ethey want, the world is already serious enough, what would it be without the lol's without
's and the
's an even sader(donno if it's right) place,so tha's my opinion on this thread,no hard feelin's

well said cyberia
lol..infinity
i do agree with you mindbender...
i think we both have a tendency to write big long paragraphs as posts...i go on my rants...but then theres just times where a simple sentence does the same as a lecture...especially when posting on like...um...depends on the thread....*shrugs shoulders*
also...i truly believe it depends on the tread...if you create a thread that makes you think and maybe something that strikes an interest that goes beyond....how old are you, what track are you listening to right now...which are all great in their own way...none the less require just a one word or one sentence reply...it just seems to be more repetitive one word answers because the threads which require thought seem to be lacking. i think the key to creating thoughtfilled posts lie within the thread starters ability to create a thoughtfilled thread
