Friday, One One Fo'

Have we really made 114 of these now? Hey-sus Chrees-tos! What's up for the weekend, my fellow hardcore COR wh00r3s? Though our week stared with unseasonably mild weather and no humidity, it's back to typical Southeast heat and humidity. I think my yard work is going to be very much dictated by the forecast. Pulled a double shift Wednesday replacing some firewalls at work, so I may see if the boss will let me sneak out an hour early today. I picked up the 2017 Sam Adams summer variety pack yesterday, and I'm ready to break into that mofo.

Contemplating going in for a few hours to help out in ICU at my other job. Weather is shit wet raining again so not like I'm doing anything better. Tomorrow having people over for Canada Day. Sunday going to the Queen's Plate.

So, other than jerking off to the theme of "hey, at least we're not Americans!" what does this Canada Day involve?

Lol, well I live in a small-ish city, so certainly some lacklustre fireworks display down at the waterfront (if it isn't pissing rain).

BBQ, pool, and drinks at our place in the day/evening. At least it's hot and humid as balls, I appreciate that when it's rainy. We have a retractable awning on our deck and the pool is heated too, so we'll still be able to enjoy being outside, and even swimming!

The rain has certainly been welcome to our lawn and gardens. Everything is so lush and thriving this year. All our ferns and the grass burnt to a crisp last summer. Looked like shit.

Yeah, by this time last year we were in full blown drought. But not this year! I could actually stand to mow every 5 days...but when you're mowing a 2 acre beast, that's just not realistic most weeks. So, I try to do so every 7. I doubt it happens this weekend, though, as we're stuck in a pattern of Gulf moisture coming up out of the south, causing heavy pop-up showers.

Sounds like you have some lovely first-world problems there, what with your fancy heated pools and retractable awnings. Maybe us Amuricans aren't the only ones "tired of winning".

Been working since 4 am, 14 hour workshift. Just gonna crash.

EXCEPT NO!
I have to drive two hours away to the middle of fucking nowhere. How am I going to stay awake?

Nice long 4th of July weekend, going to go pick blueberries, watch a bicycle race, brew some beer, grill some meats and drink some brews and set off some fireworks. Then it's back to my boring desk job

Bahahaha, I complain about very little actually. Just people. Fuckin cunts.

Just finished doing the lawn too.

Today the winner of the TA DJ Contest will be announced.

Still listening some Lumi sets, all DJs went back to their caves.

Also watched this amazing Defqon.1 endshow, damn what a show:

It's been pissing rain here all week, too, and it's supposed to continue through the weekend. That hasn't stopped us from having fun, though.

There are a few good parties going tonight, but I've gone out the last two nights so I might take a breather. Or not lol.

Trying Berghain on Sunday for a super nice lineup. Plan b is Radio Slave and Ben Sims for open air fun.

Ew. I did have some drum'n'bass though, and I survived.

Yesterday was the last day of our financial year here, so I'll be doing my taxes this weekend. The fun never stops :/

General strike today. So I went to the dentist and worked from home, grading exams and whatnot.

It's sad to see some students will fail this semester... And, I don't get it: Brazilian public universities are completely free - no fees, no nothing, and they're studying something they actively chose to major in... Yet, some flat out refuse to pick up a book at home.

If only I was teaching some basic concepts in linguistics, I'd understand. But I taught them Japanese, it's not exactly something you learn by osmosis.

I'm really fucked. Seven hour session with guys from work. Ended up at a grimy basement bar witnessing Terry Francis thwack out some of the hardest, most intense tech house I've ever witnessed, while my heart thumped vividly in my chest. I'm literally only sharing this information with you while I wait for the valium to kick in so I can go to sleep.

I'm so jealous. I'd kill to hear Terry Francis live. I think his Fabric 02 mix is a masterpiece of proper tech house.

Ended up staying at the cabin last night. That was, by far, the most humid night I've spent there. I'm so sticky, I feel like I am wearing a thin veneer of maple syrup. I took my little 13" Zenbook ultrabook and watched the animated Batman - Mask of the Phantasm. It was pretty damned good. I could see a lot of elements The Dark Knight Rises borrowed from it.

It was surprisingly good. That series was definitely one of the better animated shows of all time. I need to go back and watch it from start to finish. My brother, who is 5 years younger than me, used to watch it pretty regularly when it was on during its original run, so I'd see bits and pieces just passing through. As "dark" as it was at the time, I'm kind of surprised mom let him watch it.

Posted by Silky Johnson on Jul-01-2017 16:04:

Oh yeah, we have it all on DVD. Really great series. Definitely much darker than I remembered (or realized) as a kid. Really doesn't seem like a kids show.

lol, I had nearly the same experience the one time I saw Terry live. It was relentless, jacking tech house and some basement in soho. I'm quite jelly.
