MOS Melbourne -- The Verdict!
This is gonna be short for now: it's 10:20 am and I still haven't slept 
All in all a really good night. Not quite as good as Armin, but it was a different environment (QBH, and therefore a different crowd).
Got there to see the start of Mark Dynamix's set at midnight. First half hour was excellent prog TRANCE, not Quinn's rubbish. Trotted out Iio - At the End (Scumfrog Remix I assume?) which was very nice. Moved to tech-house to tech, then back to sweet trance in the form of Energy 52 - Cafe del Mar (Marco V Remix) and Ralphie B - Massive. A nice warmup set, giving the punters a taste of everything.
Next, Tall Paul. He was crap. Save for Exposure - Magic Impulse and Warrior - If You Want Me, together with Viframa - Cristalle (Katana's Intro Mix) thrown in near the beginning as a afterthought. He didn't seem to know what the hell he was supposed to be doing. Basic crossfade stuff shocked the hell out of a few of my DJ friends, but hey, when an international DJ has had that much coke, what does it matter if he plays like an amateur?
Following on from this steaming heap was Ferry Corsten himself, and boy, does he know how to turn a night around. ALL the classics, minus Veracocha - Carte Blanche (small price to pay), plus a couple of his new productions, and THAT new mix of Gouryella - Ligaya. If he says it wasn't a new mix, he's lying. It has to be -- it's far better than the original, with much more energy. Anyway, around then was when I lost track of things somewhat 
, but there was one very special encore, which I'll let InSoMnIa^ tell you allllll about...

As far as Ligaya goes, yes, it's gotta be a new remix!!! It was slightly different. Far more energy. I held up a piece of paper in Adelaide asking him "Rank 1 remix?" and he shook him head and pointed at himself and gave me the thumbs up.

The version of ligaya he played in perth was the original (pretty sure anyway) but the way he mixed it made it sound different at the start. I think that when he was mixing ligaya in he killed the highs/mids and had just the beats, because i didnt hear anything else. When he was mixing it i thought, this does sound like the bassline to ligaya but with out all the other sounds, and then the 'classical part' hit (around 3:12 in the original mix) after that i think it was the same.

Yep, top night.
I've only been up for a couple of hours and my hearing is completely fucked (have this permanent loud ringing in both ears) so I'll try and make this relatively short so I can get back to bed.
Got there just after 12 to see Mark Dynamix, who was really quite good. Erm not much else to say really, I'm sure you've all seen him before.
Anyway, then it was Tall Paul, and I actually thought he was okay. Sure the 5 second X-fade mixes were bullshit, but there were no train-wrecks or anything and at least the set had some flow - i.e. he wasn't just a jukebox playing the first vinyl he saw, the short transitions generally worked. Besides, any DJ who plays the Lawler mix of Overdrive (I think it was the Lalwer mix?) at a trance event gets the thumbs up from me.
Yep then it was Ferry. Some of the stuff he played wasn't really my style, but I was glad to see that music he did play was generally dance floor friendly - i.e. not so many of the 2 minute build-ups that completely get in the way of dancing, and plenty of bass as well. Dropped a few of his own productions, and I'm pleased to say that me and one of my mates kept the TA tradition alive by holding up our cig lighters to the build-up in Tenshi (though I noticed a distinct lack of the rest of you following suit ). We got a compliment for doing it ("Hey that's a really good idea man" - erm yep, entirely my own mate ) and a strange look from all the people directly around us, so yeah, definately worth it.
He finished with Out of the Blue (..... which was nice) and then went into a rather lengthy encore (which I suppose I'll leave for Insomnia^ to describe?) though I'm pretty sure he went for longer than he was meant to. That big bloke in the jacket looked like he was trying to drag him away from the decks, but he wouldn't budge, and looked like he was having the time of his life. As a DJ, it's not something you're really meant to do (go overtime when there's someone else waiting) but I suppose it's Ferry, so we'll let him go on that one.
Then yeah, the last guy (who was it btw?) was pretty good also, and kept me dancing till about 7.15, before we went and had breakfast at Crown and toyed with the idea of going to the Melbourne Cup. Decided against it when our designated driver fell asleep in the Maccas seating area.
But yeah, top night all in all. Shame I won't be able to hear any music for the next two weeks (that sound system is insane - the only other time I've been to QBH was for an end of exams party where they played nothing but r'n'b..... you know, the kind of music I really like ) but it was all worth it. Top stuff.
Oh, and nearly forgot the best part of the night. I'm sure that Ferry was thinking of DJ Dowlz's note as it was happenning - I know I was.
After Tall Paul finished up with his set, the MC came on and said: "Okay, we have a real treat for you now. This man was voted DJ number nine in the DJ Mag Top 100. Yes, that's right. Here's the niiiiinnnnnth best DJ in the world......".
Couldn't see Ferry's face from where I was standing, but I'm guessing it would have been a sight.

Okay Finally I am home after getting some sleep and am on on the computer...
Whoaaa... I don't know where to start....
Okay... Here goes...
I arrived at Club QBH to be met by a fucking huge line of people which I thought was going to take about half an hour to get through but thankfully it only took around 10 minutes.
I come inside about a 1/4 of the way through Mark Dynamix' Set who played a nice clean mixed set, containing alot of tech-house, I was quite impressed with his set, I actaully expected alot less from him, so no complains there , though I wish I had caught the first 30 mins or so I had missed... as I told by SQ-K he that he was playing some nice trance tracks. (during his set I noticed a synth on stage)
Then on comes some really hopeless performace by some coked up wog in leather tapping away on a KORG synth, with some chick singing vocals on a mic LIVE to the tracks the leather muzza was playing while he was jumping around making sure everyone noticed him . Okay, her voice was quite nice, but her singing was a little off key at times, but I assure you she was pretty damn hot
Then... comes Tall Paul, i was already expecting nothing from him at all, and of course I recieved pretty much that... his set contained a few nice trance tracks, but mostly really housey tracks, one of the only tracks I noticed that I knew well was 'Joey Beltram - Slice' which didn't really fit in with the flow of the set at all, his set was mixed nicely. Though it was nothing that impressive. also I have never seen a DJ so coked up during a set before his face was priceless 
, and I never knew it took about 30secs to a minute for a DJ to select their records was he racking up lines of coke... surely he wasnt. 
*edit* Did I forget to mention Tall Paul played NIRVANA? LOL 
and then.... all my excitement comes at once as I see Ferry Corsten poking his head around the corner to grace the stage for a set I had been anticipating for 5 years of loving Ferry Corsten. As Ferry jumps on the decks after being introduced I decide to pull out the earplugs I had purchased because the treble was WAY too high on the sound system it was quite unbearable. Ferry actaully kept the levels down alot lower than everyone else that had played. His whole set was fantastic, I emensely enjoyed it 
dropping tunes such as 'Gouryella - Ligaya' and 'Gouryella - Tenshi' and of course 'Ferry Corsten - Punk' which got a rather large responce from the crowd, as ferry caught me and few people up the front singing the vocals...
Then during his set I handed my 12" copy of 'Gouryella - Gouryella' to the security guard to give to Ferry to sign... I got it back after a few mins, then my mate Chris says, "Hey, Why don't you ask him to play it?" I'm like... "Nah, I don't want to bother him anymore while he is playing his set" he goes "Okay i'll give it to him then", the security guard was still near us and over hears us, and takes the record from me and hands it to Ferry, he sticks it in by him. Then further into his set he plays 'System F - Out Of The Blue'... then he puts another record on the decks Chris gasps and goes "Shit, I think he just put your record on the decks", then after 'System F - Out Of The Blue' almost finishes I hear a very familiar sample. Then he stops... then as his encore, what did he play you ask?
My copy of 'Gouryella - Gouryella', the smile and amount of excitement and satistaction I as well as Chris were feeling were off the scale. As all my other freinds already knew that my record was signed by ferry were coming up to me and saying "oh my god... is he playing your copy?" It was so amazing, and definately something which will be talked about for months and something I will not forget
After Ferry's set Me and Chris and Carly and a few other freinds went around the side of the DJ stage eagerly awaiting Ferry Corsten to come around the back, he did and he was happy to see us waiting there for him, and we spoke to him for a long while and got quite a few photo's with him, including me still holding the record (which I will post up on here once I get them, as Carly took them, not me). He was a really freindly down to earth person, and gladly listened to everything we had to say and had alot to say to us, he said he was really hoping to come back here some time next year.
Now that was one of the greatest nights I have had in quite a long time, and I must say I havent been this satisfied for a while

, but ferry said that he would love to come back to Melbourne next year a few times, I don't see him being booked a few times, but he loves Melb.

What did everyone think about the night...
I thought Ferry's 2 and a half hours was the only thing that made the nite worth while.
Tall Paul was absolutely the shittest international act ive seen in OZ in 2 years ive been goin to parties!!! His mixing was a "DOGS BREAKFAST" my grandma could mix better than that. No attempt at all to mix, instead he opted for the "Bass Down cross over trick "
His track selection was horrendous he played

that belongs to the top 40 charts!!!......He went from Hard House to Teks to House to Trance back and forth, to and fro up and down...No Cohesion at all. Honestly i think he was on COKE or somethin that

Mark Dynamix was as usual always on que, with his smooth transition across all genre of Techno. great mixing, and technical skills.
Ferry Rocked the CLUB he dropped all the classics, all the Gouryella songs and also Microbe-Xit to Nowhere (a smashing track) towards the end. Ferry gave the night some credit, but overall probably would have paid 25 bucks to see Ferry himself than to pay $50 to see Tall Paul and Ferry
