Telstra has announced that it will offer free coverage of the Melbourne Cup to all broadband users.

It plans to make over 100 individual races from the climax of the racing carnival available online, including live streaming of The Victoria Derby, Melbourne Cup, Crown Oaks and Emirates Stakes.

In order to gain free access to the coverage, users will need to register at www.bigpond.com/horseracing. The offer is only available to people who have broadband connections, are physically located in Australia and are over 18 years of age.

Announcing the free offer, BigPond Managing Director Justin Milne said; "Melbourne Cup is the race that stops the nation and this year, if you can't get out of the office or away from home, you can still catch all the exciting race action from your computer."

Telstra also provide video streaming of other sporting events such as V8 Supercars, but they are available only to BigPond subscribers.

I had a dream last night.. and it went like this:

Instead of Digweed on Cup Eve, he was actually at the Melb Cup on a special stage mixing and lots of short jockies dancing and everyone else dancing in their formal wear..
