Perth People <--- DJ Competition

Some of you might know already, so this is particularly for people who still don't know.

There is a DJ competition sponsored by Rise nightclub and DJ factory.

All you need to do is send a 30 minutes demo (of any dance music, but since it is rise sponsored, I suggest mix a commercial dance tune or something ) and put your name, addy, phone, and so on....give them (or send them to) Rise nightclub james street northbridge.

Judging criteria (in order, the first one being the most important)

1. Tune programming (tune selection, order, etc...so in order words, do not put nick sentience's in between sasha and pvd tunes)

2. Mixing skills (how you fade the main song, when and where do you enter the bass of the new song, and so on....)

3. Mixing techniques (no split basses, etc etc)

Prizes

heat winners will get $100 records voucher from DJ factory

Winners will be a stanton DJ pack worth $1400 (stanton TT's, mixer, headphone, slipmat, carts), and plus a 1 hour spot during rise's new years eve party.

AND NO.....THIS ISN'T A HOAX

plus, the dj factory is shit, $100 would take me ages to spend, their stock is that dismal...

the main prize is pretty mediocre aswell, who wants cheap ass decks like that

i spend roughly that at dj factory every week...

and i could think of alot of people who would love that prize.. if i won it i'd prolly give it to one of my mates..
cheap decks are better than no decks!

mate, I went in to the dj factory just yesterday, went up to the counter and asked "got any new progressive" the guys facial expression was like "eerrr whats progressive?", he told me up on the wall under the 'house' section. I look at it, and the stuff was like 3 weeks to 2 months old. I told weavy, "mate this aint new" and he's like "we only got that in last week". I then walked on out and went to RMX.

trance/hard trance might be a different story, but everything else is absolute shit, the stuff kenny posts on the net, he doesn't even get in his store, its a joke really

and on the issue of decks, its a pretty big competition with some strong financially well off businesses behind it (eg rise), the least they could've done is come up with a decent set of decks and not a cheap set. I know decks are better than no decks, but considering who's running the comp, I think the quality of the prize should be much better...

i reckon the prize of having 'contest winner' on ur bio is worth 100x the decks... even if it is for the rise..

1. I agree with Bedrock that DJ Factory is quite bad on anything else other than trance and hard house, cos I think that's what they focus on (...and that's what I mainly look for anyway...trance and HH). Their progressive and anything else is average, but their trance selection is massive. If you want better progressive though, RMX is better and Sanity has got some killer progressive tunes time and time again (just make sure you are mates with the counter-boy, otherwise he'll tell you to look on the shelves). Their shipment is not that bad, most of the stuff I order I got them within 4-5 days, some of them 1-2 weeks, and a few in 6-8 weeks.
With the issue of whatever they posted which are not on the shelves, I think that's the problem with the shipping company....
....and in case you wonder...no I do not work for them

2. I know that Stanton package are shits, but I was planning (if I win of course ) is to sell the prize, together with my gemini pair, and get 1200 or 1210....wouldn't that be good???

Is rise still open? Do the same fuckwad "dj's" play there. I need to plan a trip to perth again and hear them play sandstorm. Rise was great for hearing a song early on, then mid way through and again just to finish off.

I'd rather have the decks than a spot at rise, to me that would look bad on a resume

yes rise is still open, and depending on who you refer as dickweed..simon barwood and dr bill still plays there

I don't particularly go clubbing anymore, unless if there's a party or raves happenin, but rise mainly plays commercial dance/cheesy trance kind of thing. I find that church's music is way better that rise's

...and about getting the 1 hour spot...i don't think it'll look bad on your resume matey...experience is experience, but I agree with you to have the decks, and sell em in exchange for 1200's or 1210's

dj factory is good man you can order whatever you what whenever you want and ken is always really helpfull and gets your shit in quickly... i wouldnt go bagging it in a hurry... if you know what your after... you cant go past it

yeah...I agree with Jah...

So far I've ordered about 100-120 records from them and I got about 80% - 85% of them. I mean most of my records I bought from DJ Factory and some small amount from friend/sanity/centralz. So I have nothing to complain about DJ Factory...and beside their service is top as well....

btw Jah....nice to see you again...I haven't seen you in a while
