so who of you are still using the same? (winamp that is ;) )

personally, i think it will be a long time running till i switch to the winamp 3 series, just too much for me at the moment. SO how many of you have stayed with the winamp 2 series? And how many of you have switched to versian 3 and are never looking back? I mean, its been a long time since the guys at winamp updated to the new design so it would be interesting to see how many of you guys have embraced it

I use Sonique

Posted by biznology on Nov-05-2002 23:25:

still using winamp 2.81. winamp 3 is too buggy and hogs too much system resources. besides, i'm not particularily fond of what nullsoft did to winamp. blech.

2.81 all the way

I installed Winamp 3 when my last hard drive crashed...after I did that I frantically searched for my old Winamp 2.81 again.

Fuck 3, it takes way too long to load, and I don't like the changes they made to it

Posted by _rdent on Nov-06-2002 03:21:

3 has cool skins, but damn... i couldn't figure out how to run the visualizations within 5 mins, so i said f u and put 2.81 on again hehe. i seem to remember the playlist being silly too

Posted by Eu4ea on Nov-06-2002 04:12:

most definitely 2.81, how annoying are all those useless bits at the bottom?! Plus, I fear change. I still have win 2000. WIll have to coax myself into XP, won't I...

hah hah.. I had the same problem too! I installed the visulistaion but had no idea how to run it! too complicated if you ask me

I upgraded to 3 but I hated it, so I went back to 2.81

Posted by Mr.Mystery on Nov-06-2002 07:02:

Why fix something that isn't broken?

2.8x now and forever.

same here, winamp3 sucked, the skins sucked, the playlist sucked

long live winamp 2.8x

Posted by libra_1143 on Nov-06-2002 14:03:

2.81, cos 3 has lost all the cool features. Like if you download mixes that are split in to .001 .002 .003 files, it can't play em without a)renaming or b)rejoining them. and on my p500, 2 doesn't take all day to load, but 3 does.

Posted by verminator on Nov-06-2002 17:09:

2.81 > 3.0 =)

Posted by skip on Nov-06-2002 20:25:

the good old winamp 2.80 is working just fine! i haven't even tried winamp 3 because i've heard only bad things said about it!

Posted by nekholm on Nov-06-2002 20:25:

still using 2.8

Posted by goodnet on Nov-06-2002 20:51:

According to what i've read, winamp 3 is a completely re-written program to version 2.x. that's why you cant even use the old 2.x plugins with it. That's the stupidist thing ever. that- and its a total resource hog for what I and 95% of all ppl need it for (to play audiofiles)

i dunno why they're doing this exactly... (*COUGH*AOL*COUGH*), but at least they still openly offer winamp 2.81 on thier site. The nullsoft guys are obviously aware that alotta ppl won't like the completely different winamp 3.x
