YES Theres a Compaq Presario for sale -P4,1.2 ghz, 512mb RAM, 30 gig hard drive...mmmmmm..ya

and a Motorola v70 (those new ones which turn around)

i wouldve postd this in the 'For Sale' forum but it makes no sense selling these items to people outside TO (or nearby areas)

im not sure...but info should be on the motorola site...a friend of mine is selling both of these... i think hes selling the v70 for 420

It's actuallyGSM Tri-band (900/1800mhz, 1900mhz) and for the mostpart has good reception. If the phone's hot, find a place to have the IMEI # changed. The IMEI# is most likely flagged in motorola's database.

(I'm not trying to scare any1 out of buying it, it's a good phone. Just beware b4 buying it).

wow .. didn't know it was Triband .. anyone i knew who owned the phone always told me it was single. the things u learn .. i'm gonna check their site too ..

hrmmz... their site sez that the US version of the phone is GSM 1900 only so single band. this is the model i was referring too .. i didn't even know there was an international version of this phone ?

well the ESN # is an individual # that each phone carries. It's like a tracking number for the phone. And just like Desidel was mentioning that they are created for that particular reason is to see if the phone was "hot"!

the ESN # is necessary so that the cell provider knows which phone number is assigned to which phone as well as who the owner of the phone is. sometimes when the phones are stolen , the owner will inform the provider and they can often disable the ESN off their system so that the phone won't work , unless the phone is 'unlocked' so that it can be used with another provider that is using the same type of network .. ie. GSM, CDMA, etc..

Think of it like this...

Ethernet Cards have their own unique MAC address that no other ethernet card can have.
(Although with some of newer ones you can rename the MAC.)

The IMEI is the 'MAC address' of the phone...

yeah but ESN #'s are only found in TDMA/CDMA/analog phones. For GSM phones, all the info is stored in the sim card. but the IMEI # can still be flagged by all networks as a stolen phone. if the last 2 digits of the IMEI # are changed, a stolen phone will no longer be stolen.
