dommune always brings the best of kraviz..

Not a huge fan of her style. EXCEPT when she plays @ Dommune. Although her mixing sometimes is fairly poor, the tracklist always deliver it. I'll list below some of my favorites, hope that you guys enjoy as much as I did. Via her dommune sets I discovered so many great artists, such as aleksi peralla, pub (ampoule), baby ford, erofeev, theo parrish (yeah, heard for the first time at the 2015 set lol), to name a few.

Maybe unpopular opinion these days but I can't see whats all the fuss about Nina Kraviz all these years. Her production is mediocre, dj skills are not her strong side, big room sets are bad even though she knows to play good tracks..

It's the Ben Klock bump and the fact that shes been playing pounding techno now for a couple of years. I can safely say I haven't been into anything she's done since Ghetto Kraviz. The only Nina I miss is UQ deep house Nina, back when she still had a soul.

While I was at ADE last year I was walking down a random side-street in the red light district and happened to walk past the studio of Red Light Radio. Kraviz was playing at that moment and there was a small crowd huddled around the window staring at her. I peered in for a moment, but you cant hear anything out on the street, so I said something to the effect of Whats the big deal? You cant hear what shes playing. One bearded wanker breathed, Oh, shes easily the best. Shes the whole reason Im here. Clearly she inspires that kind of cultish reaction in certain people, although I cant see it myself. There seem to be a few female DJs around at the moment who play high tempo, pseudo-old-school techno and prance around a lot behind the decks, all ripping off Ellen Alliens shtick from 15 years ago.

She was something unique when she came up, a sexy russian girl making really raw house tracks. There was nothing like it at the time.

I'm with your guys - I don't get the fuss about her and to be fair her sets just aren't my taste. EXCEPT when she plays at Dommune. Idk if you guys listened the set but she ranges from Conceiled Project to Theo Parrish to Aphex Twin.. it is just THAT great. The rest of her stuff is dull, though (specially when she plays at a gigantique crowd).

Obs: "for ben" is a nice track, maybe my favorite from her.

Yeah, I've heard similar stuff about her and it is always from the same kind of people.. I respect everyone's taste, and don't want to discuss it, but when you don't even hear whats shes playing and you talk about it that way... Meh..

Totally agree with Ellen Allien reference.

I think even if you don't like her style, you have to give her some respect though, her label put outs some genuinely weird shit that's far from being prime time festival tools. She takes by far the mosts risks musically if you compare her to all the other A-list festival headliners.

That is true, especially label stuff. However, I think that she can play whatever she wants at festivals because as SYSTEM-J said "she inspires kind of cultish reaction in certain people".

I tried listening to the first set you posted, but I couldn't get into it at all. Didn't help that the sound quality is shit, with hardly any bass, which is the very last thing you want when listening to techno at home. But generally, I've realised in my old(er) age that I just don't like dissonant music, and that whole "atonal pattern" techno she's playing in parts here is like nails on a blackboard to me.

Full on agree. I think she should absolutely be commended for the risks she takes. She at least tries to surprise people and play some old classics and some new weirder stuff. Last time I saw Klock I finally got why Woony was so over him. Same shit over and over again like he is on repeat.

White people music ...

I'd always check out the odd set of hers but I find her to be hit and miss

as opposed to this Amelie Lens or Charlotte De Vit, who are just miss
