Wow, it already happened? This must be the first time I've gone through a single season without seeing a shred of hype or promo for it anywhere. In my own interwebs wanderings, anyway.

I didn't and in general most don't see this as something important here and besides that, there aren't enough Dutch to vote the other five Dutch DJ's into the top 10.

8 of the Top 10 are Dutch acts. I won't deny they have popularity outside their home country, but if other regions voted heavily for their homegrown favourites (as the UK used to when all those UK DJs consistently won high spots in the poll; see also: Miami landing Markus Schulz consistently high back-in-the-day), I doubt the likes of Don Diablo and Oliver Heldens would crack the Top 10 so easily. Far as I've heard, some of the heaviest marketing for the DJ Mag poll takes place at Dutch mega-events like Tomorrowland. But hey, since DJ Mag never releases their actual polling numbers (too embarrassed by the drop in global participation that isn't run by bot farms?), we'll never know.

Both do have almost 3 million followers at FB, that's almost the same as e.g. Paul van Dyk. I can't imagine that many are from Holland.

To be fair these 2 guys are pretty popular. They play peak hour main stage slots at major Festivals.

Main stage headliners don't have to buy music from Beatport - it's all given to them. That just leaves the "actual DJs" buying from Beatport; y'know, dudes who rinse out in "the underground", where tech-house dominates. At least, that's how I'm sure Beatport would spin it.

The "tech house" on the Beatport chart is about as far underground as the International Space Station.

It's obvious that the commercial end of dance music is now so big it has its own distinct strata. The EDM guys on this list obviously game the shit out of their online profile, of which the DJ Mag poll is part, but they exist in a higher level of aggressive marketing and commercial optimisation that has effectively cut them off from the "real" club scene even at its most overground. Their's is the world of stadiums, mega festivals and the biggest bottle service Vegas clubs. The Beatport Top 100 is the Elrow level of club music - for 18 year olds yes, but still vaguely connected to the mechanisms of the actual club scene.

I half expect DJ Mag to shelve this poll soon. Like the RA poll, it no longer represents the music its parent publication covers, to the point it's actually harming their image. I think the only reason they still do it is because it's DJ Mag's only calling card. Dare they can it and lose the associated profile it gives them?

anyway there are some underground artist on this list, for instance nina kraviz is 97 , richie hawtin is 61 adam beywer is 79 solomun is 91..

really only them four , im not a fan and dont listen to their music, but the fact that they are there is notable
