Cool Remix Competition #4

REMIX COMPETITION #4

TRACK TO BE REMIXED: PERPETUOUS DREAMER - THE SOUND OF GOODBYE

29. Bren-F
30. El~ZaPo

Limit has been set to 20, alltho I don't think we need a limit this time. So if you still want to join, let us know.

STARTING DATE: 12th November 2002
ENDING DATE: 12th January 2003

Some people said the one month in the previous comp wasn't enough, surely 2 months is more than enough this time.

JUDGING/VOTING START: January 12th 2003
JUDGING/VOTING END: January 26th 2003

This is offcourse the voting done with a pole. This can't be a TA pole offcourse, cos that would be too corrupt. In the (unlikely) event of finding some old-fashioned judges the dates can/will be altered.
The dates may be altered, depending on how long it takes the manager(s) (see below) to host the tracks.

THE VOTING
At the moment we're going for a pole. Details about this will be posted at a later time.

MANAGING
- One person will be selected to host the compo. He/she may not compete or judge. FTP server hosting experience required.
- Tasks:
- Supplying serverspace
- Renaming the mixes to numbers and keeping track of which mix is which
- Managing the results received from the judges according the judging rules VII, VIII and IX
- Manager:
- eieregooie did a good job last time, I'm hoping you're interested this time too...

REMIXING
- The accapella for the track will be made available. Any other files (e.g. midi files) that will be helpfull will be posted too.
- All mixes have to be 5 minutes at least, to avoid dull radio edits
- You're supposed to make use of the accapella, no dubs.
- MIXES MAY NOT BE SPREAD IN ANY WAY, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES UNTILL THE COMPO IS COMPLETELY OVER
- Only one mix per contestant may be uploaded to the server. So make sure you're completely satisfied with your remix before you upload it to the FTP server, there's no way back after you've uploaded.
- Uploaded mp3s should be in 192kbit, 44.1khz, full stereo. Make sure you give it a sensible file name:
"[your TA username] - Perpetuous Dreamer - The Sound Of Goodbye (your artist name remix).mp3.
- Mixes have to in ON JANUARY 12th 2003 (23:59 GMT)
- If you need to drop out, please let us know ASAP. Contestants dropping out after December 12th without a good excuse will be blacklisted (not that this has any consequences yet, but I'm sure we'll think of some.. mwuahaha!).

FINALLY
- When a competitor is done with his/her mix, he/she must send a PM to the Manager asking for the server specs.
- When all mixes are up the Manager will provide all judges with server specs and the judging may begin.
- If some people are willing to do the old-fashioned judging, please let us know.
- This competition is purely meant for fun.
- When the whole thing is over I will burn them to cd and give Armin a copy of all the remixes, or at least of the people who want Armin to hear their mix (hope he doesn't sue.. )
- 1st prize will be the choice of track for the next remix competition. That's all.

AVAILABLE FILES

Accapella: sog_accapella.mp3
note: High Quality Accapella. thanks to starf0x!

Midi: Midi File
Thanks to mantisnl/eLe_vatE

If you have any other files that are usefull for this competition, please let us know. Don't be greedy.

AND FINALLY...
Some of these rules may be changed during the course of the competition. I will try to update this post as soon as changes are made.
If you have questions/comments/suggestions email/pm me or reply here.

Good luck on remixing.

Robert

Some last notes on remix comp #3:
Thanks to eieregooie for hosting the tracks.
Thanks to the judges who did actually judge, especially the ones who posted full reviews.
Thanks to eiregooie and oDrori for posting a bunch of rules. As you can see i used some of the rules in here again.
Thanks to the contestants that remained.
A big 'hrhrhr' to the contestants that dropped out

maybe get a bit more time for this one cos alot of people not only have work but college and uni as well so it kind of limits certain people! partly cos i never got the last one finished cos of this reason!i think we should just make it as poll and let anyone judge as long as the tracks are anonymous!

Posted by Pjotr G on Nov-11-2002 14:22:

oh well, might be fun, think I may enter once again

Posted by Mr.Mystery on Nov-11-2002 14:52:

I missed the last one because I was lazy so I will definitely not miss this time!

Hi there!

I've never joined a remix competition before, so I'm definitely in!

Keep me informed!

Heh, these remix comp tunes seem to be the only ones I can finish. I never finish my own tunes. I think I work better with a time limit. Somebody set me a time limit to finish my newest tune!

Posted by Luke Terry on Nov-11-2002 19:39:

Cool

I got so bored of L'esperanza last time, a tune I didn't particularly like anyway, but listening to it that many million times or whatever kinda drives u insane

You have to finish it by the start of December or I will set my super magical flying dog on your pods so u can never spawn.

Perhaps we should try letting anyone from the forum judge and not just people from the amateur section. This seems to work for the mixing comp.

*Agrees*

LateRZ!

an anonymous poll would seem nice to me... that way the different tastes between reviewers can be ruled out in some ways i think. well, count me in as always if i can get it finished in time this time

cheers,
Wim/LW

ok reveal the track and set the date already hrhr

Posted by Dave_Masters on Nov-12-2002 08:22:

I reckon sound of goobye would be a good track...

because its a vocal track people could remix it on many different styles....

Posted by Pjotr G on Nov-12-2002 10:28:

yess an excellent song to remix, if somebody could throw the acapella in the open!

Posted by Luke Terry on Nov-12-2002 10:53:

Cool

not a fan of sound of goodbye at all, its nasty man might as well have an effort though, but give us until new year or something manageable like that

Posted by Icone on Nov-12-2002 11:23:

oh i love those vocals... post them up mate!

is there going to be a midi of that track as well? or just let our creative minds determine what to do? it'll have to be more time than just till the start of december though

Wim
