Brame & Hamo - Celebrity Impersonator EP (Progressive, Trance)

Stumbled upon this duo from LOFT Records ep and dug through their stuff and its pretty varied (Prog/House, Breakbeat, High BPM Techno, Trance) but this EP really stood out for me.

Also like these tracks:

Discovered them through the Limewire record this past summer. Have since ordered a few of their releases. Dig their discography.

Nice - Midnight Express for me. No load of nonsensical percussion elements to fill the track but just what is needed to support its drivingness.

These are probably the only new tracks Ive heard in the last ten years that could genuinely pass as 90s prog trance, right down to the way theyre produced. Impressive work, but the real banger is Sports Complex. I have the feeling Ive heard that out somewhere recently, although lord knows where. Into the crate, ye goeth.

"Space Dub" from the Club Orange EP (Feb 2018) is quite the driving stomper as well - very nice. They sure don't shy away from taking various approaches at house, considering "Roy Keane".

Well Request Rhythm is just straight up trance really isnt it.

More than anything else, I suppose. I'd like to see it appear in a set - curious to find inbetween what tracks it would get played out today.

Now I think about it, these guys have cropped up a lot recently without me having any idea who they were. They played all night long at a club here last month and I even read an interview with them where they cited Saints & Sinners - Pushin Too Hard as an influence. Then at Bicep last Friday I was chatting to an Irish lad and he asked me if I knew who they were. At the time I had no idea what kind of music they made, or I might have shown more interest. I wonder if it's all coincidence, or if a breakthrough beckons?

They've been hot on my radar for a while and I must say the Celebrity Impersonator EP is really, really good. Thanks for the heads up.

almost stumbled out my chair. This is the closest thing to 90s prog trance I've heard. Wonder what kind of stuff they play out live.

Big fan of Transit. All three are nice though. Surprisingly high tempos as well - I'm starting to notice more and more tunes up near 130bpm again these days. Has the Great Tempo Slowdown finally been reversed?

Techno at least has been getting faster for years to the point where it's already heading towards another speed-collapse. It's not uncommon for festival sets to be close to 140 BPM now, especially with this new school industrial-trance-EBM "Copenhagen Techno" or whatever you want to call it. The kids love it but it all seems similiar to tribal techno collapse around 15 years ago. I don't think a sound like that can sustain itself for more than a few years before it crashes and burns.

Like the last half-hour here, it's pretty much just early 2000s hard groove techno mixed with modern industrial techno.

Yes, you always talk about how techno is really fast these days. Up until very recently that was an isolated occurrence though. It's very common now for tunes to be sub-120bpm and get picked up by big DJs. I've got a friend I DJ regularly with and he hardly ever goes north of 120bpm. We're all banned from exceeding 123bpm when we play together.

So they're playing again here in October in my favourite club in the city. Only problem is its a Tuesday night. Trying to formulate how I can get away with going.

Sorry, I have to bump this topic... I actually just stumbled upon them again. I remember adding one of these tunes to my bookmarks when this topic was made last year, but then I guess didn't get around to buying it.

I've been on a post-turkey Youtube binge and my lord these lads are awesome. That remix of Madben - Blooming is so good. Plenty of these are going in my shopping cart.

Did you end up going if it already happened lol?

Nah, couldn't make it work. They'll come around again. They seem to be hot property on the UK circuit at the moment.
