-- Friday 198: new daycare, new diseases

Posted by Silky Johnson on Feb-08-2019 11:44:

Behold, my arse. Friday 198: new daycare, new diseases

I've been up most of the night puking and shitting after 3 days tending to my child with the same bug she picked up at her new daycare this week.

So I'll probably be doing more of that today. Was supposed to go to dinner tomorrow for a friend's birthday but I doubt that'll happen now.

Blech.

We got little dudes 1st bday party tomorrow. Also started finally getting in some brick training (bike then run) since the polar vortex has passed. I got a couple new mix ideas swirling around so I might try to do some digging one of these days.

Hitting the Sunset Strip tonight, arbeit tomorrow then prolly the dreaded Ikea at some point over the weekend. Time for some Swedish meat(horse)balls as a consolation.

In the words of Ice Cube, today was a good day.

Lol.

Weirdly, my local Ikea here in LA is a direct floorplan copy of the one near my home in north london, meaning I know where everything is, all the shortcuts and how to GTFO in hurry. I can relaiaticall do Ikea in 30 mins if I push it. Mmmm, I can taste those balls now

My life is a world of potential paint hues and wallpaper patterns right now.

We celebrated the birthday of my wife's PhD adviser (who happened to be my MSc adviser, back in 2011).

It was a good change from what we're used to. We went to a vegan bikers' bar where her children (both above 18) ordered chips, onion rings, and tattoos. I didn't know tattoos were so quick to get done.

I'm just curious as to why vegan establishments don't sell soft drinks. Is it a Braslia thing? As far as I know, Pepsi is not made of lamb, so it doesn't really seem to make much sense

Honestly the lack of Pepsi was the least disturbing part of your story

It wasn't disturbing at all, but it was very unlike our other Fridays, what with all the vegan bikers getting tattoos

When we moved in to my current flat we had to go to Ikea for some furniture. I already had the codes of what I wanted from the website, so we went in through the Exit doors, barged through the tills the wrong way straight into the warehouse, found a trolley with a dodgy wheel that had been left by an access lift to be taken away for repairs, and got out with the shit we needed in about 10 minutes flat.

Fucking result. There's nothing worse than being forced to walk the swedish maze of compressed sawdust with micron thick veneer clad furniture for 2 hours as they apply all this impulse buying psychology on you, not to mention hide all the clocks and dehumidify the air so you're disorientated and thirsty and forced to buy their GMO lyngon juice.

10mins must be a record.
