DJ Jon Cockle - Wedding Set (House Classics)

I DJ'd at two of my friends' wedding at the weekend - and what a jolly good time it was. I'm thoroughly enjoying playing house classics at the moment - it started out as a bit of fun for me when I was putting together the beats for my own Wedding, but I'm starting to actually get into it now!

Hope you enjoy - let me know what you think!

1. Alison Limerick - Where Love Lives
2. Brothers In Rhythm - Such A Good Feeling (Inspirational Delight Mix)
3. D Ream - Things Can Only Get Better
4. Dina Carrol - Ain't No Man (Brothers In Rhythm remix)
5. Shape Shifters - Lola's Theme
6. Skuba - Kuba (Satoshi's Sugarcane Mix - Wedding Edit)
7. Blaze ft. Barbara Tucker - Most Precious Love (Freemasona 'Proper' Club Mix)
8. Soul Central - Strings For Life (Mark Knight Remix - Wedding Edit)
9. Laurent Garnier - The Man With The Red Face (Mark Knight vs Funkagena Remix - Wedding Edit)
10. Mory Kante - Yeke Yeke (Hardfloor Remix)
11. Orkidea - Nana
12. Inner City - Good Life (Coqui Selection Remix)
13. Phillipe B - Like You Do
14. Xspansions - Move Your Body
15. Reflect - Need to Feel Love
16. The Killers - Mr Brightside (Thin White Duke Remix)
17. Age Of Love - Age Of Love (Jam & Spoon's 'Watch Out For Stella' Remix)
18. Faithless - God Is A DJ

Jon, we gotta talk about the meaning of the word 'classics'

This looks grand; I'm looking forward to giving it a listen this weekend

Do you know what mate, I reckon that track is a modern day classic. I've heard a few DJs drop it in classics sets, including Roger Sanchez, Smokin Jo, and even the lesser spotted System-J

Hope you enjoy it 😉

Well I really rather enjoyed this. PLenty of great tracks and mostly blended together seamlessly. The transistion from need to feel loved in mr brightside almost worked but the keys jarred a weeeee bit too much for my likng, although having said that if I had been on a wedding dancefloor rather than headphones im not sure I would have cared.

This is your second wedding house classics set mate, you thinking about setting up a mobile disco?

Haha. A couple of tracks were pre-requested by the groom (need to feel love and age of love), and a handful were requested from bridesmaids and the like on the night (man with the red face, yeke yeke and Mr brightside). I wasn't intending on play Mr Brightside but I shoehorned it in, thinking the melodies would complement. I reckon if I'd kept the fader down for the first 30 seconds I would have gotten away with quite a cool transition there, but alas...

That will always be the dream

Nice stuff, mate! It's fun sometimes to just pull an Oakenfold and slam classics back-to-back, and a wedding is obviously a perfect time for that.

No matter how long I live in Britain, I'm still cheerfully surprised by things like bridesmaids requesting 'Man with the Red Face' and 'Yeke Yeke.'

I agree with Dave, both about disliking the transition into The Killers and imagining that in person it wouldn't have been such a big deal. I hope the couple had a nice day

I'm liking this set alright, sure has the spirit of a best friend's wedding from what I can tell from that picture. I'm sure yall had a great time. I really like that you brought in need to feel love and mr Brightside as the closing encores, it looks like you did a great job.

Thanks for listening mate! Yeah I was pleasently surprised by the quality of requests that were coming in

There was one guy who said the music was 'too heavy' and could I 'play some bangra', but he was outnumbered, and outgunned
