Friday 231
Slather it on me, butter side down.
Working this weekend. Library and swim class. Potty training. Oh yes oh yes.
buddy's cottage, SO is in EUrope, just purchased 2 years worth of music.
I'm going to utilize my piss formula to fuck with everyone at the cottage.
Saw Bill Burr at the Royal Albert Hall in March and been meaning to visit a comedy club at some point since. We have tickets to check one out tomorrow night.
As if I really need to say this, but his new special is worth a watch. The venue is amazing.
I love live comedy. I will never go to NYC without hitting up The Comedy Cellar for some lulz. In the summer Judd Apatow did a surprise set, totally testing some writing for a project. Was awesome!
bill burr is my fav... my girlfriend hates him. i took her to see him once
Yeah saw him a few years ago. Very long show, but excellent.
I'm seeing Fort Romeau tonight. I've wanted to see him for a while, but the overall party could be a bit dodgy, so I'm mentally debating exactly how hard to hit it. The weather is going to be pure liquid shite for the rest of the weekend though, so I won't be missing much if I go full hammer.

That is so lame. I love how 4 hours is now considered an extended set, when that used to be the norm, or bare minimum.
I'm trying to be a good boy tonight, but I've decided fuck it after a few beers at the pub. Checking out Dubfire tonight for what they're promoting as an extended set. Will get four if I'm lucky lol. Not a huge fan of the layout of the venue (good sound though) either. I'm hoping he brings out a cool crowd to make up for it. Have never heard him play live and always wanted to. Fingers crossed.

Baby room prep, record shopping, and a 20th anniversary party for Ghostly w/ Audion, Lusine, Galcher Lustwerk, Gold Panda, Shigeto, Telefon Tel Aviv and more.

Hopefully it won't rain too much this weekend, although we can use some rain.
Football match with the boys tomorrow, visiting parents as friends had to cancel a visit.
When it's dry we will visit "75 years of liberty Belgium Remembers", an U.S. Army tent camp just across the border near Maastricht.

I was never a fan of British humo(u)r, but it's grown on me. Hopefully I don't feel a huge disconnect tomorrow and understand almost everything lol. |

Oh, come on, they're not that expensive. I took two yesterday; 10 each way, that's the equivalent of 4-5 pints.
Are cabs still popular over there? The taxi industry in Australia is failing badly since Uber et al. turned up several years ago. It's kind of a shame for the drivers, and particularly for the cab owners. A taxi license used to be seen as an investment, and were worth over half a million dollars. Suddenly, they're not worth shit.
On my way to a meeting yesterday, 8 or 9 cabs drove past me, with customers, before an empty one came up, so, yeah, I'd say they're still pretty popular. It helps the industry that a lot of people are either tourists or can expense it for business.
I do laugh that, despite all the talk of 'The Knowledge' and cabbies knowing everything, they never know the park right next to my flat. In zone fucking one.
Taxi licences / medallions are a weird thing. I 100% agree with the licencing rules for cabs, insofar as checking out that people can drive and are not criminals, but in so many cities they have just become monopoly tokens, raising prices to extreme degrees and limiting supply. Uber's biggest advantage, imo, was allowing Millennials to get cabs without actually talking to anyone, using an app, but they also got around the monopoly rent-abusing, which has been a huge plus for consumers (not to mention everyone else, considering how it lowers drunk driving).
