How good was trance that came out of Belgium?
Something about the music that was coming from that region...
Some names that come to mind include:
- Jonas Steur; and
- Svenson & Gielen

Tried to search for the regular "trance is coming back" thread, and found this thread instead. Wanted to share last fridays 4 hour Essential Mix by Amelie Lens. The segment between 1:30 - 2:00 is pure (hard)trance I think! Albeit of course without the cheesy melodies or ridiculous gimmicks. You get the point.
Not wanting to hijack the thread, but I just have to mention that I have big respect for most of the current A-Line female techno dj-s. I think they bring a certain "anything goes, hedonistic reckless abandonment" to the table which makes them very entertaining to listen & dance to.
It'd probably be more relevant to post that in the Tiesto thread further down the page.
What would Nigel Farage say?
Fugazi mix
This guy.

M.I.K.E. is right, Belgium made trance long before the Dutch came in the picture.
I thought it was awesome, here a few starting at 1990:

Are we really this far into the thread without mentioning Marino Stephano?

He says Marco V confirmed it on Twitter.
Also an essential Documentary on Bonzai Music.

Trance began in East Berlin in the late 1980s.
There were a lot of sounds circulating around '89-90 that could be considered "proto-trance". There are records from many countries, including Belgium, that could fit this description. But "trance" as a recognised musical movement is 100% German in origin.
which country is legend b from? between all the metal and grunge 'lost in love' still made it to the prestigious PKC cassette tape for listening on the school bus.
