i've never done it before...

hey everyone,

ok just a quick question. i want to start encoding/ripping whatever you want to call it shows off of the internet. i know that there have probably been lots of threads on this but how exactly do i do this. no one ever seems to rip the shows that i want so i'm gonna do it myself... and share of course hehehe.

It depends on the format of the shows you want to rip. If you are listening to a lot of Shoutcast music through winamp, then search google or Cnet.com for "shoutcast" and you should find several programs that will help you out with this. There are other methods of ripping audio/video streams but I'm not sure of the etiquette of this site so I won't go into detail. Just look around google and you should find stuff that will work, there is software that'll do it.

you should of just spoke to some of the TA that have do rip on the board or posted a thead. ive ripped a few sets for ppl that have asked..

anyway, i found the best and easiest to use is streamripper. its for winamp and you can get it from www.downloads.com

good point... i guess if you don't ask then it won't get done. i guess that i just figured that people don't like seb fontaine that much so i would rip his weekly show myself. will that program you are talking about rip off of the radio 1 site? don't all of their broadcasts go through real player? so i don't know, can you use winamp for those?
