I HATE getting tired of tunes

I swear, for a long time I could listen to a whole library of great tunes and never get tired of them, as long as I savored it and jammed to it in variation.

but nowadays, a lot of the tracks that I used to love as my ultimate favorites, I can barely sit thru the entire track and not just skip to another song/tune.

Do you guys get this too? For example I used to LOVE the moonman remix of "Where Are You Now?" and I think the sounds are amazing still, but idk why I can't sit through and listen to the whole track enjoyably anymore. Kinda sad

Take a break from music entirely for a week or so. Your senses are probably overwhelmed and need recovery time.

If you rarely listen to music and above suggestion wouldn't apply to you, I don't know, maybe it's just an epiphany that the shelf life of those tunes was overvalued.

You could also try doing drugs. This usually helps in the listening experience for me.

Diversify your music. Like, MASSIVELY diversify. Not just within electronic music, but ALL the music. Helps keep anything from getting looped in your brain for too long.

Can't say I'm familiar with this situation.

This is basically the key. It's why I'm constantly searching for new music, which is thankfully much easier in the age of online streaming.

But sometimes the opposite happens and listening to a broader spectrum of music results in your tastes changing, and you start hearing old favourites in a subtly but crucially different way. And suddenly they've lost their lustre.

classical music, blues

I get what you mean and the probable reasons are already lined out above. Apart from the fact that some tunes just dont age well, and others you kind of grow out from, being exposed to such a vast amount of music nowadays just kind of devalues music in general.

20 years ago I could listen to a tune hundreds of times without getting fed up. Nowadays my Spotify "Discover Weekly dump" playlist has about 1500 great tunes, most of which I've only listened to once.

With some albums/tunes/sets that I've liked very much, I've actively tried to limit my exposure to them so as not to lose the magic.

But yeah, all that being said, I listen to tons of music nowadays and I very rarely run out of ideas what to listen to next. Its just that great stuff gets replayed less often than "in the old days".

Take breaks; it's important.

Silence is as good as music and vice versa at their most enjoyable experience.

Tru tru. I have no problem bouncing from K-pop to underground dance music and vice versa. It's a big pool of diversity.

Those tracks simply have left your ultimate favorites list, you just aren't aware of it yet. That's what I told myself when noticing the same.
