Armin van Buuren renames ASOT 1000 show in Poland to #danceforukraine

On the 12 March, ASOT1000 is due to take place in Poland inside the Tauron Arena in Krakw. Due to the on-going humanitarian crisis unfolding in neighbouring Ukraine, funds will be raised during this show in aid of the thousands of refugees now seeking safety across the countrys various borders. The event will now go under the name #danceforukraine, with contributions made through ticket proceeds and the online charity portal that will be launched on Thursday 10th of March via astateoftrance.com/donate.
As fans have come to learn over the years, A State Of Trance is more than just a radio show; its the biggest trance platform worldwide. With such a formidable global reputation comes a great opportunity to make a massive difference, in the hope that the ASOT community will #danceforukraine in the name of charity in these desperate times. Therefore, proceeds from the upcoming event in Krakw will go directly to the Polish Red Cross in aid of the Ukrainian people currently seeking refuge in Poland. This Thursdays episode of ASOT will also be dedicated to the Ukrainian cause, uniting trance fans around the world in making donations for the refugees.
Good initiative.
On a side note, the whole "ASOT 1000" thing got totally derailed by Covid in 2020 -- hard to keep the momentum of that event going so props to him

Join the ASOT Battalion.
Wouldn't have watched this stream if it meant winning a trip to Mars, but I came across this track today and saw it was played.
Seems like Russia and Ukraine cured COVID and suddenly everyone is a little bit Ukrainian.
Good thing Im not Russian and unvaccinated
It's good to see a little bit of these trance events in Poland because the electronic scene here is odd. I missed Sasha and John Digweed already where they only played once in a couple of years in Warsaw.
In the spirit of trying to salvage another useless thread, I've recently been listening to some old, old Armin sets from the Good Old Days, which to be honest I've never really done before. I always found his productions very fluffy and assumed his sets would be crammed full of similar Dutch Edam, but I was aware he had a reputation for being a smoother and more musical mixer than the Tiestos and Oakenfolds of this world. And also, I kept searching for old prog tunes and seeing them come up on Spotify on ancient ASOT episodes, which made me realise he did play some better stuff than just the fluff.
And you know what? CD 1 of this compilation in particular is genuinely very good. The mixing sounds a bit unnatural in places but is overall very respectable, and blend between Sister Sister (Nalin & Kane Remix) and Sunset On Ibiza in particular is very silky and makes both tracks sound better than they do alone. Things are put together with a firm understanding of arrangement and harmony, and he manages to build the set up properly and even holds off dropping in the first gargantuan breakdown for a length of time that's downright tantric by the standards of a trance DJ. And also: look at that tracklist! Starecase, Chris Cowie, Slide, Van Bellen, Holden, Way Out West, Junkie XL, Lemon8... this is good trance music. Fair play Armin: you're absolute dogshit these days, but I can actually understand the nostalgia in this case.
His older stuff is top-notch. I too don't dig his track selection nowadays.

Some years ago i would be like "what? Just a Little More Love at 138BPM mixed with Communication, or rather Just a Little More Love with Communication at 128 BPM, this is odd".
I remember Kazantip, the orange suitcase club. Guess that's off these days
