Hello! If you're looking to rip some CDs into mp3,wav,flac, etc.

fre:ac works perfectly and is free! Mac, Linux, Windows, etc.

Quite surprised I found this thing so easily with a Google search. No superfluous garbage/junk to install or trial versions to contend with.

Windows Media Player still does the trick for me.

I'm surprised people either buy software for this or use malware filled junk. EAC (Exact Audio Copy) has existed since the birth of Jesus and has always been free, has accurate rip features, is compatible with mp3 and flac codecs and has automatic tagging of tracks.

You're about 15 years behind the curve, old Swampchap. My new laptop doesn't even have a CD drive, which has forced me to keep the corpse of my old laptop alive in suspended animation, to be periodically revived just to rip some second hand Discogs purchase. Apparently the newest Pioneer CDJs don't even have a CD drive either.

I bought a few CDs off ebay to get decent copies of a few tracks in prep for the Trance Sanctuary gig but my old laptop with the cd drive decided it had enough of this world so I had to rip them with the ps3

I ran out of time to sort a backup USB stick so chucked my emergency cd wallet in my rucksack. Turned up at fabric to discover 4 cdj3000s and not a cd drive in sight.

Thee laptop was solid but lesson learned, fuck cds man

Re: CDs, I have a like ~20 external drive for ripping. Don't remember the last laptop I owned that had a disc drive

I guess I'm one of the few that doesn't use a laptop (outside of travelling/bringing to work meetings). I've always had the luxury of a desktop with either a full size tower (in the ancient days) and a mid-size now. The DVD burner that's installed I bought a decade ago and still works for the bunch of legacy media I still own.

My heavy Asus ROG laptop I daily use for browsing in the living room still has a dvd burner. But at work we even have pc's using Dos 5.0 with floppy drives at some machines

I also still have a midi tower upstairs.
At both I use an ancient Wavelab 6 version to rip cd's as it still works in Win10
