Every artist seems to have that 'sequel' that sounds similar to their previous track

Cosmic Gate: Exploration Of Space > Back To Earth

Solarstone: Seven Cities > Solarcoaster

Barthezz: On The Move > Infected

And I'm all for it. All these tracks are good.

In some cases there's a twenty+ year long sequence of tracks that sound (all too) similar to the previous one (like 4 Strings).

Thumbs up

Wow, I didn't know 4 Strings was producing that long let alone with similar sounding tracks

Tbh I hadn't deliberately listened to any since about 2003, but I just listened to two 2022 tracks on the youtube and it seems I wasn't wrong.

Armand van Helden - The Phunk Phenomenon ---> The Ultrafunkula

I mean, they ARE technically different, but c'mon!

Wow, they are extremely similar but I guess that's why I made this thread

The FSOL are the combo breakers here by resolutely refusing to make anything like Papua New Guinea ever again.

Topic disproven

Is Luke Slater a combo breaker?

Posted by planetaryplayer on Jun-17-2022 18:34:

He is not

One word

Deadlines

It's easy to drop midi into a template and churn out a new tune or remix when you have to have something ready in under two weeks.

ATB - Don't Stop / 9PM (Til I Come)

Other than the different vocal sample I seem to remember it is literally the same track. I would try and listen to it one after the other to see if I could hear a different melody but I couldn't.

Well that sounds normal/logical. If you release 2 tracks (in the same genre) within a few months, it's inevitable that you will produce something which has similarities to the first track. You can find maaany exmaples.

After if you step back and check over 5+ years it's that true and many producers will evolve.

One producer who still regularly produce sounds like 20 years ago is M.I.K.E. Push.
On the other side, you can't compare what Tiesto & Armin van Burren produced 20 years ago to the noise they produce nowadays.

the-sixth pretty much ended my last couple of threads. What's going on?

Posted by the-sixth on Jul-01-2022 11:19:

haha sorry bro not on purpose

But yeah it's not really them trying to have a signature I think, its more some coked up label guy saying that last one made us lots of money do it again in a week please. Just my thought haha

"Let's release the same track again but now with cheesy vocals added and make some extra cash"

Posted by Bren-F on Jul-03-2022 22:25:

With the older tracks, a lot of it was down to marketing.

They had a track that was a hit, trance was popular then so the label say "Do another one of those" to try to cash in.

Beautiful Day ---> Just Come Back to ME

These two seem like good candidates:

Christian West - Eterna (Club Dub)

Eve - Riser (Christian West Remix)
