Summer Vacation Plans

Wuddup everyone,

Just wondering what everyones vacations plans are for this summer. Having some trouble thinking of ideas for our family (kids are 9 and 3) and just hoping to be inspired. Everything seems soooo expesnive these days.

Our thoughts so far:
- Lake Tahoe (Cali)
- Sequoia National Forest (Cali)
- Puerto Vallarta, (MX)
- Atlantis Bahamas (way out of our price range but the thought was cool)
- Seattle or Portland (i feel like these places are better for adults).
- Vegas! but a family friendly resort. Possibly wayyyy too hot though.

I think we're just gonna relax at home and maybe make some short daytrips to different places nearby. And of course the normal midsummer festivities, etc. Our new owners only allow a four week summer vacation this year, so why even bother planning anything? Summer's fucking ruined.

Nothing planned for summer. We've decided our big holidays (sorry, "vacations") are going to be exclusively winter sun from now on. There is absolutely nothing better than sitting in the sun with a cold drink in the depths of January knowing everyone else is freezing their balls off back home. You're turning the worst month of the year into the best one.

We've been to the Canary Islands for the past two Januaries. The next trip will be to Goa, India, which we're saving up for this summer.

We usually go camping or rent a cottage, but this summer we're hosting a bunch of stuff at our house. Summer is always busier than I'd like, where my priorities are concerts and active time spent outside.

Winter is our preferred vacay time too. Ski trips for us though.

Mexico for a few days for a girl's trip. And that's about it. Doing a huge reno so all money is going into that.

Travel in the summer in our City is kind of a waste. So much good stuff happens at home.

London for a few nights then returning to the French Alps for the third consecutive summer. Morzine is the perfect base with a kid. So much to see and do around the town or via hiking/taking the lifts. The multi-pass is great.

We are doing the Atlantis thing again this year. We've done it twice before and their setup is amazing with kids. Big room suites, plenty of things to do...a casino. And now the kids can swim well so we can do a lot more.

We actually did all our traveling earlier this year during school breaks and are a bit tired of airplanes So summer will just be a trip back to the US (when we will do the Bahamas) and one to Bodrum.

Working at a music festival, as always.

Of your list, I'd recommend Sequoia National Forest. Outdoor fun, natural splendor, basking in the shade of the tallest f'n trees on the whole dang planet.

We actually decided to go to Cabo, Mexico.

Back in 2011, we got a time share at a resort down there. Yes, we were drunk and kidless at the time. The sales dude made it sound like an awesome deal and that we could use it anywhere in the world. Unfortunately, we woke up the next morning asking ourselves "WTF did we just do". Come to find out you can't really use it anywhere. You have to "trade" it with another time share holder somewhere else.

The good news, is now that we have had it for 14 years and have kids now, it's actually been pretty great. It's great resort, walking distance to downtown Cabo (which we never go to unfortunately), plenty of pools and the staff is GREAT! We have it every other year and we were scheduled for next year. Instead of waiting till next year to go, we pushed our time slot forward to go this year. Plus, it was cheaper to go compared to any other int'l destinations we were considering.

Moral of the story: don't get a timeshare!!!

No camping for us this year as well. Crazy stories out of Algonquin with the storms a few weeks ago crushing tents (tree collapse) and injuring people. Wife is pregnant now so my brewery tour is postponed. Going to stay on pelee island, and in tobermory but nothing exciting

I've still never been to Tobermory, and it's so close! I want to rent a Yurt on Cyprus Lake.

It would be a good time to go too, national parks are free entry + discounted accommodations!

We did Awenda last year and I wanted to stop in tobermory one day because it looked real close on the map. The gps said it was a longer drive than from toronto
