Was John Askew the spiritual successor of Paul Van Dyk?
I'm not saying Askew ripped off PVD's style. It's just that they both had that driving, pumping, uplifting trance sound, and Askew emerged in the scene around the same time PVD had that signature sound during the turn of the millenium.
Not so much a 'spiritual successor' as generic cut and paste tracks with a PvD-like kickdrum.
I don't mind the kickdrum in Askew's tracks, but I understand why you feel that way.
Never got that feeling. But I love John's often very long sets which also contain pumping techtrance and many old classics.
Alright then. He does have a variety of tracks at the end of the day.
This set was worth posting.
