Smiley DJ >>> Prog VS Uplifting <<<

I have notice a lot of Australian TA's are really into the whole progressive thing.

So which genre do u prefer, uplifting or progressive??

My votes goes to uplifting of course!

Uplifting there is no doubt about it

Difficult to say really.. somebody here on Tranceaddict said a few months ago 'listen to enough trance, and you'll start liking prog'.. well, i've listened to soo much trance, that that's what's happend. Prog's then led onto Hiphop n DnB. The music which i download varies from day to day. The folder "New" in my mp3 directry is like a quarter trance, quarter prog, quarter hiphop, quarter dnb, then a little house there. My tastes are rather broad

But trance these days is getting boring. There are some wicked tracks being released, but there's still alotta tunes which get hyped up, i download them then find they're quite cheesey. Ah well, prog gets my vote in this one

Posted by Bedrock on Nov-19-2002 11:30:

prog is such an over used term

u have to distinguish it

progressive house

progressive trance

YOU CAN GET UPLIFTING PROG TRANCE!

Posted by stamper on Nov-19-2002 11:47:

Progressive trance then.

I know you can get uplifting prog trance, but i mean generally which sound do you prefer.

Posted by ascension on Nov-19-2002 11:49:

he he he

progressive 4
trance 2

all i'll say is that theres a time and place for everything...

Posted by webmeister on Nov-19-2002 11:55:

Prog 4
Uplifting 3

Getting there

Posted by Hybrid Junkie on Nov-19-2002 12:00:

Prog 5 Uplifting 3

Sorry guys but my fav. tracks are generally on the prog side...

When you're down you don't feel like dancing to loud trance, you want some emotion/vocals. And considering the last 9 months of my life have been blown apart in the last week, I haven't listened to any trance...

PROG 5
UPLIFTING 4

Brings it back to an even playing field. After his vote for uplifting, scores are now locked at 5 a piece

Seriously though, give me a nice uplifting melody and I'm a happy camper.

Posted by escee on Nov-19-2002 13:42:

Im going to have to vote progressive. Although there reasonably equal.

Posted by Philby on Nov-19-2002 13:49:

philby hits the jumpshot from the corner to tie the scores

Posted by InSoMnIa^ on Nov-19-2002 14:24:

I don't want to choose between these two, but I must pick Uplfting, it does more for me.

Posted by Hybrid Junkie on Nov-20-2002 02:10:

Well hybrid and bt are more prog than uplifting. I don't regret my vote

Posted by Renegade on Nov-20-2002 02:23:

I like them both obviously, but progressive has been my bitch for the past couple of years or so. I can't remember a trance tune released in that time that even comes close to bringing back the feeling of the stuff I was listening to in 99/2000.

Still, I enjoyed both the Armin and Ferry sets here recently, so it's pretty clear that I still like trance (even though I wasn't sure for a while), but it's still all about prog for the moment.

10 to 7 . Uplifting will always get my vote. But thats not to say i don't like listening to prog cause i do sometimes. Just as some say uplifting can get cheesy there is plenty of boring prog out there.

how about we stop voting for the best genres and just enjoy good music, genres is what makes it shit. good music is good music as cliched as that is itself... the beauty is everyone has thier own opinons noones right no ones wrong... just differant... and the more you appreciate EVERYTHING on its merits ie. good music from whatever "genre" the better understanding and enjoyment we will all have of electronic music...
