Do you ever feel like you are physically inadequate?

I know I should accept my appearance for what it is but some days i feel like I can never look the way i want to and it makes me depressed. I work really hard to stay fit but at the same time i know there are things about my appearance that i could never change.

NO

I've learned to accept myself the way I am and personally I am happy with the way I am.

i'd like to be taller, not like I'm that short, just like to be taller

i thought i had accepted it but lately i have been in this wave of depression about it. maybe it is a combination of insecurity over physical appearance and something else, idk.

yeah...there are times when i feel physically inadequate too...and sometimes, no matter what i do (ie. work out, eat healthy and so forth), i'm still not happy with the way i look. ppl always say its about accepting yourself but that's easier said than done. ironically, it's not like i'm really lacking confidence in myself either...but there's just that tiny chip on your shoulder..and you think to urself..dammit, why can't i look better?

but hey, cheer up...while now you may be in a slump about ur looks, you know there are times when you look great too

King

id like to be a bit more muscular
im skinny, but its not all bad, perfect for skating as i have a nice light frame

Posted by Vanilla on Nov-20-2002 21:47:

I always feel bad about the way I look, always have always will. I dunno I think Im just a perfectionist, because whenever I get a compliment, I'll think it's a lie or something. That or low self esteem. Bah

I don't really like my skin (not the colour, I have some scars... not that visible, but they bother me)

im tall and lanky...

actually im supposedly 'gangly' since my friend is 'the lank'

its cool he has a special dance called the lank, its a great party move...

seriously tho, i think the only thing that keeps me from really worrying about appearance too much is:
A)find out what looks like shit to me(on others) that i can change about myself, do so...
B)understand the freaky parts of myself that i could do without...
C)realize im just a lanky bastard, and
D)look at scary looking people,
E)feel better about myself, AND FINALLY,

F)realize that EVERYONE thinks they look like shit, so everyone is equal on that matter of fact, and then you can start to not worry about what you or others truly think!

-theoretically-

sure i always feel physically inadequate but then i look in the mirror and say "damn u fine thing, u on the wrong side of the mirror *wink wink*"

Posted by ProDiGaL on Nov-21-2002 23:17:

growing up i was an ugly duckling, but as the years progressed i looked better and better, grew taller (195cm) worked out, and am very proud with what i have achieved, i get looks all the time. So you can change yourself, you just have to be determined and confident.

Impressive Where did u steal that from

it's pretty normal considering human psychology, to not be satisfied with one's physical appearance.

I've never really been concerned with how I look.. either people will find me attractive, ugly, or somewhere inbetween, and how they see me is THIER problem.

I've got better things to worry about than my physical appearance

bullshit. i think half the female sect thinks they are the hottest thing on the earth.. and probably 40% of guys think the same.

I always feel that I am physically inadequate but not to the extent where I can actually be bothered to do something about it A good tip if you're feeling especially ugly is to watch Jerry Springer or indeed visit uglypeople.com!

I have a tall blond friend that's stunningly beautiful. She's also boolimic. She thinks her perfect body is "physically inadequate?"

After looking at her and what she thinks about herself I thought
"Hey maybe I aint as bad as I think either!".

Posted by matt_a on Nov-23-2002 12:58:

Sad

I actually like the way I look however I do have one major problem! Let's just say growing older isn't all it's cracked up to be. I hate taking of my shirt to go swimming or anything as I have alot of pimples and stuff on my back and I hate it. I fucking hate it. I actually like myself apart from them

Posted by JM on Nov-23-2002 13:47:

some people are more attractive than others, and some are less attractive then others. still, everyone should accept and love themselves for who they are. well, maybe..if over-weight then can exercise to get in shape and maybe feel better. that's what i did

>JM<

Posted by Ves on Nov-23-2002 14:36:

generally i am happy with my appearance..but of course, there are some things that i would like to change. for instance, i would like to gain weight because i hate wearing swimmers where i have to expose my bony looking ribs (not good!). i would like to be taller as well..
but meh, there's not much i can do about it!
