Idea

Alot of talk is being done around Tiesto and Max Graham. In your opinion what is the best set of 2001 thus far?

Posted by Fatboy on May-01-2001 21:33:

I've not heard many livesets this year because of my crappy isdn line. I download the singles instead. Anyways, the best liveset i've heard this year is Johan Gielen Live Trance Energy. Wicked

Posted by JdDark on May-01-2001 21:56:

hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, I just heard PvD @ Mayday and he wins the price

Posted by DJ Guangzhou on May-02-2001 03:58:

Steve Lawler. Prog house has made its mark this year, much more I think than djs that consistantly drop For An Angel EVERY set for the last 9,372 years!!!!

Posted by shr00mz on May-02-2001 04:08:

me say PVD at mayday

My vote also goes for PVD - Live @ Mayday2k1..just downloaded and listened to it...wow...

Also I dont get all the flaming of PVd for dropping his own trax in just about every set..as long as it gets the place bumpin does it really matter? Its not like his songs are trash or something.

Posted by dvd on May-02-2001 04:12:

whats wrong with dj's playing their own track, at times i listen to them BECAUSE they play their own. I want pvd to paly another way!!1

Talking

Till now it's Tiesto at Dutch Dimension, but I'm d/l now PVD @ Mayday, so that could change in 60 minutes

my best liveset is a race between Johan Gielen live @ Trance Energy and DJ Tiesto live @ Dutch Dimension

Yes you are right it's absolutely amazing, but the best this year, I doubt it. I'm must say that I'm not an enormous fan of PvD. The breaks in that set are so irritating. If they weren't there it was definately the best set.

umm..PVD at Mayday....err..I watched that set, and it seemed to me that it was nothing special.....the first few songs he just faded out and didn't even mix......:P Oh well...

Anyway, I think it would be Picotto at Trance energy....

Posted by South Trancer on May-02-2001 14:46:

guess you cant just name a "best dj set of 2001"
you must specify a genre, progressive/epic/psy/whatever
and there would be a top3 for each one

Posted by TeKnoHe@d2025 on May-02-2001 15:36:

PvD @ Mayday was pretty damn good, but when he kept turning up and down the volume it was gettin annoying after awhile.

try to see what happens to u when he drops For an Angel while u are there, live on the dancefloor in front of him.
don't tell me u already have..
otherwise u wouldnt come up with all this dissing

Posted by moogwai on May-02-2001 18:22:

DJ Tiesto Live @ Dutch Dimension

And Armin van Buuren & Johan Gielen @ Massive are also nominated

Posted by Carnie on May-02-2001 18:32:

Thumbs up

I would include SCOTT BOND and Marco V @ MASSIVE!

but it's hard to make a choice, i have heard alot of great mixes so far and those 2 were the latest.
If anyone knows were to download the massive mixes, please let me know, coz all the sites i used to visit have been terminated and napster is fucked up too.

Thumbs up Till now!!!And lots to come

Mauro Picotto @ Trance Energy
Tiesto @ Dutch Dimension
Marco V @ Qontact

Posted by MRC1200 on May-02-2001 19:11:

The best one I heard for 2001 is

Armin Van Buuren live @ Club Eau 1/6/2001

Thats a sick set... (specially since he drops FOR AN ANGEL =P)
From beginning to end, its Quality!

As for PVD Mayday 2001, i didnt think it was all that great
The mixing is kinda wack if you ask me... he just fades out and in and doesnt even beat match rite in a couple songs... Wonder if it was an off day for PVD..?

Best set for me is the one by De Leon (Dumonde) at RPR Maximal 23-02-2001

I Totally fucking agree with you here mate !!!

3 best sets for 2001 are in my opinion:

1. Armin van Buuren Live at Labyrinth 2001
2. Paul Oakenfold Live at Winter Music Conference
3. Ferry Corsten Live at Rosemontags Rave 2001

haven't heard pvd at Mayday 2001 yet.. 30% left......

Posted by b0bb0 on May-02-2001 21:59:

at the time pvd @ innercity part 2.. just loved it

but now its either picotto @ trance energy or pvd @ mayday

Actually I have. And I am back to further diss. I'll say this right now with no hesitation. In my humble opinion, Paul van Dyk is waaaaay over-rated and I don't particularly like him. Furthermore, I think For An Angel was a cool song in 1998. I don't feel the same way today mostly due to the fact that van Dyk must rely on this song to move people every set. He could expand his floorfilling selection you know. When PvD dropped this most of the crowd went nuts, cause it sounded familiar. I groaned. I know you don't feel the same way, I respect that.

"To each their own."
