Funny thing is they have a surgeon general's warning at the bottom of the flyer like a cigarette ad

SURGEON GENERAL'S WARNING: Smoking can cause serious risks to your health

hehee..just pray china police dun crackdown on the party like they did fatboy slim's debut there. word has it police went up to him and told him to turn down the music cuz they were "scared the bass was making people too wild". fatboy slim only got to spin 20 minutes of his stuff before they took him off and had someone else spin old pop stuff.

sidenote: if i'm not mistaken...PvD was in Taipei, Taiwan back in '98-'99...BUT taiwan being the conservative country it is, the show was a bust. trance just has not hit asia yet...or it's just not ready for it. you won't believe how many scowls/frowns/dirty looks i received this past summer from promoters and club owners. *sigh.

Except in Japan man. I've seen some wicked/crazy vids of parties in Japan. Plus read an interview of Guy Ornadel doing gigs over there and how the clubs stay open till 1pm at days on end.

haha..true..well...he didnt spin for 20 minutes..longer than that...an hour and a half i think..if my memory still cooperating..well.....trance scene here is getting bigger every time..just last month..paul oakenfold was here..although i dislike him..but still an improvement...and now paul van dyk ^_^ its growing!!

also..there are thousand and thousand of clubs here in this city (shanghai)..some of them play good music(pvd(rare))..but most of them still play poppy stuff(venga boys) hahaha well..nice meeting ya

Love Poundin' Sensation

He shouldn't be here on the 30th November - he should be at Gatecrasher in Sheffield for the Black & White Ball!!! I feel robbed!! He should be at the club that gave him his name!!! Get back to the roots man!!!

My last weekend in the UK - without Paul van Dyk

*depression sets in* *kills self*

Just joking - good luck to Paul for his Warehouse debut this weekend, us Crasher Kids will all be thinking of you in Sheffield!!!

Anyone else coming to the Black & White ball this Saturday!!! It's gonna be class A!!!!!!!!!

PvD has been in Asia many times in recent years. he's played Hong Kong at least 5 times since 99, Japan about the same, Malaysia, inclusive.

guys like Rampling and Oakenfold been playing China for the past 5+ years and the trance scene has already come and gone.. not that asia isn't ready.. Asia's all about trends.. its just that the trend ain't trance right now.

agreed, i know indonesia for one has had trance and progressive since way back in the 90s...it's just sad that as you said, "the trance scene has already come and gone..." it just really got to me that i couldn't find anywhere to spin consistently this past summer in Taiwan.
