Okey, here's two typical derb style samples.

Sample 1

Sample 2

Save target as....

those are just little parts of the vocal.. which are cutted and placed in this particulary order kick-vocal kick-vocal

just play around with some vocals and try it out

okey..cool..going to try that now

In the first sample its just a change in pitch ...

Their remix of Follow Me does it the best. The vocal sample is just cut up and then I think they use a vocoder cos they slowly bend the vocals into a synth

All you do is set up loop points on your sample. Gradually shorten the loop length (by adjusting the starting or ending point - whichever one you prefer) until the loop is so short that it's basically just a raw waveform. Any sound can be used as a synth by setting a short enough loop.

First one, is jsut taking a part of the vocal, thats fading out while a synth comes in.

SEcond is done by timestretching NOT loop poiting. As that would require too much time comparing to time stretching, i know of NO sequencer that can automate loop points.

In reason you can load your vocal sample in and play with the Sample start button and automate it

You can also time stretch in Cooledit Pro

thats the way most of us would do it. but derb probally used a hardware effects like the lexicon to time stretch, rich bastards LOL

Too true. I saw a picture of Kai Tracid's Studio. It's really not fair, but the basis behind it all is the same. With a little more time and effort, I'm sure you could pull it off. I'm not able to listen to the samples but i know what you're on about.

WOOT

jdat.. hehe.. sorry for misleading you.. i did the research..

RMB does not actually = derb

They just helped out derb with the remake of in africa

That is their only co- project

Derb is actually Ken cold and Boris Hafner.

IN AFRICA BY DERB WAS CREATED BY :

Rolf Maier-Bode, Farid Gharadjedaghi, Kai Winter & Boris Hafner

Which = RMB, Kai winter, and 1 member of DERB

In africa however was originally created by RMB under the alias Manitou...

sorry for the confusion.. now im not so mad that i missed DERB
