He was ok at best !
He spun from 12 to about3. I Arrived at the club around 1 am to see Paul spinning some Tribal house. Then He progressed into Hard house .... then Disco house.... then Old shitty trance (Sioux - Pho 
) ... Then some decent trance(3 drives carrea)... Overall Oaky was ok at best and In my opinion He sucked!
- Did the God pose
- Pointed at the stupid FOB's and made them scream because he was waving at them
- Did a bunch of stupid poses when Each song climaxed
- Trainwrecked a a few tracks
= WASTE OF MY MONEY AND I WILL NEVER SEE HIM AGAIN 
Oakey in limelight tonite..
I wasn't impressed either. I don't understand why he came on so early. He was the main attraction for the night. Doesn't the main attraction usually come on at 2 or 1 at the earliest. We must have missed the first hour of his set. He played around 4 or 5 songs that really pounded the dancefloor. Mabye 1 every 30 minutes. Mixed in some really shitty commercial music you would hear on the radio. And the rest was all progressive. Not bad tracks, but nothing that impressed me.
I usually like Draper and about 2 years ago I use to love Vicious. They both played pure shit. I was bothered by the crowd for the first time. Lots of fights, people throwing up in garbage cans, and people being carried out to ambulances. A very scary Thanksgiving party but I finally got to see Oakenfold.

please donot support exit no matter who the dj is....leave that place for the crackhead fobs.... sooner or later that place will self destruct... biggest venue in nyc... yet, the worst.. its an embarrasment to nyc club culture(music, crowd, vibe, atmosphere)

Sorry to hear that Oakenfold sucked. I saw him last year on TRANCEGIVING and he had me crying..he played for 90 MINUTES!!!!!!!!
his set was excellent, but I wanted to die. 90 minutes!!! nuff said.

same thing at limelight..he was good..but he has declined my friends. the pointing and all that, gets you goin soemtimes...but again..i got there at 12..and i heard he was already on for 30 minutes. then the bartender tells me hes spinnin till 8. i look at him, and think you poor thing. i would think that the main attraction would come on about 2 like diggers did at centro the night before. oakey is finito. ciao

That's sad. I used to dislike all of Oakey/Sasha/Digweed style DJs. But then I listened to Oakenfold Live @ Space, Ibiza '99. That mix turned me around. Since then I've listened to lots of his sets from the '99 early 2000 era. He chooses his tracks for what they are. true gems. If anybody can ID song #4 from Ibiza, you will be my God (or Goddess) forever. His technical skills aren't superb but I think it's an important example of track selection over technical excellence. But his mixings after those golden days have just lacked the feeling.
Anybody else have any opinions on his Ibiza set (besides the fact that he's got the weird LSG shecan -> skip raiders transition(?) as well as a few other odd transitions)

I believe it's 6/25/99 and yeah we're talking about the same one.. still don't know what #4 is though. I don't think we'll ever know.
