It just gives u the option to choose from the free 1 or the pay 1 i think

Posted by Fir3start3r on Nov-29-2002 12:19:

I think everyone has gotten that MSN email in their hotmail account; them hocking their 'upgraded' hotmail account....

I'm sure it's a choice...

Posted by Fundamental on Nov-29-2002 12:33:

Yup, there's some smaller writing at the bottom with a link to sign up for a free e-mail address...

well, the first rule of having a usable email account is to not post it anywhere and to not sign up with it anywhere. i get about 25 spam mails per day; 3-4 of them make it to my inbox and the rest go into the spam folder, which you can delete. but that's all cuz those friggin companies are reselling my email to each other, bastards.

my sister, for example, gets 100s of spam mails a day because she used to give her email address to every "fun & greetings" website or whatever. so now if she doesn't clean her mailbox at least once a day, it could get full (she has some large messages saved in it though) and she wouldn't get any more emails until she clears up some space.

if i use my e-mail address for noticfication from this forum will that result in spam?

i get about the same or less spam as you, in my inbox, so i think i'll stick with hotmail, even though any spam mail annoys me
but i won't give out my address as much

i doubt it... most of the spammers use searchbots that search websites for email adresses and stuff... really annoying, because if if your address is publicly listed somewhere, like on a forum or something, lotsa bots will find it and resell it to each other... stupid forced advertising

Posted by vito on Dec-01-2002 17:00:

it sucks
but at least i know how the stuff gets sent to me and how i used to have an account that never had any spam at all, at hotmail

Posted by MadThijs on Dec-01-2002 17:22:

My junk mail filter is emtptied all the time and only messages from
people in my contacts list get it to my inbox. That's how I cleared thee hugh amount of spam.

no you don't need to pay for hotmail. it just microsoft's way of marketing. if you look closely on that page, lower down it says you can get the FREE account. it's a link, not an image or anything.
