MAURO at club tru REVIEW

sorry for the delay here, but since i got home at 1:20pm yesterday, i have proceeded to sleep until 12pm today other than to wake up for thanksgiving dinner yesterday.

we (greg, danielle, and myself) got there at 1:15 or so.

$30 cover charge, but we hear hip hop playing when we walk in. i'm thinking this better not be the warm-up dj. well, it wasn't. that was the hip hop room, the main room had some other guy who played a remix of some pathetic christmas song and heh, i spotted this one, the second track off of pvd's love parade '98 set with the vocals "let's go!" oh no...we look for other TAs, but they are all no show.

i was so afraid mauro wasn't going to show, or if he did, decide to skip off. i was so relieved when i spotted mauro cross the main dance floor and greg and i take off at a mad dash to catch the man. heh, he walked into the bathroom and greg went in. i waited outside. mauro leaves the bathroom and greg and i are like "mauro!" but he keeps on walking. grrr...

no biggie. who wants to be bothered after doing their thing?

mauro comes on a little before 3 and that's when we head down to the dance floor. there may have been 75 people there. no one other than, i'm sorry i forgot your name who was at arc, and greg and i had any clue who he was. oh, and let me state for the record that NO ONE was dancing. two people doing strings that took up the entire dance floor, a group playing with glowsticks and one really really drunk guy.

the was no vibe on the floor, i strongly disliked everyone around me, and just kept trying to get away from all the sketchballs there. so i went up to the second floor and we had our own little party up there. great vibe, great energy, could actually sorta see mauro from there and be mesmerized by the sad excuse for a laser.

it would have been a HORRID night, but mauro saved all. his played a blistering set that gave me everything the venue and crowd could not and made everything ok. i had a great time and danced my legs off. some tracks that i could id:

1. vitalic-la rock 01
2. umek-gatex (gabry fasano mix)
3. legowelt-disco rout
4. sherry berry track (help me out here matt)
5. computer freaks (matt, could you please help again?)

oh goodness, it is so sad that i can only id these four. i recognized more, but don't know the names. but i KNOW there wasn't any off the cieling cause i would have known that one. and none of mauro's own productions to my knowledge. also there were a ton of new SICK SICK tracks that he played.

overall a very good night due to the amazing set that mauro spun

FINALLY!

I've been searching the net for 2 days trying to find a review. What a lame turnout, is sounds like. I can't believe Taub didn't go! Art told me Daphna went?

WOW... Mauro never dissapoints I guess.. Even when the crowd is shit. Glad you had a great time!

Caryn! glad to hear you made the most of the A.C. scene -- It sounds like Mauro could make anywhere a fun place ~~ have a blast at Talla!

ok,

I know what the crowd is like at Tru, so the turn out was not surprising. I figured that there wasn't going to be alot of people there in the first place.

Now as for the "Little Dummer Boy" remix! hahahah We were sitting on the front left box and making up christmas songs that would follow the beat. Just when I looked at my clock for the hundredth time waiting this dude to get off and Mauro to get on, the man walks out the DJ door and I get to shanke his hand, then proceeded to jump estaticaly on the dance floor until he got back.

He blew me away at the first track, and I danced for as long as my tired body could dance. Man, that was a phat set!!

The hip-hop side (Studio) was BAD. We got bored and one of my friends got on and stared to play some breaks for us to break-dance to. So I did until I popped my knee out. OUCH!! I'm still limping today. SOB!!

All in all, Mauro did make the club better. The people that worked there had no clue who he was. We were at the door and the guy say $30, and I'm like. "WHAT!" All he could say is that they have an international DJ tonight. I said I know, the Lizard Man, and the guy's all, "No, Mauro Piccotto." hahahahah!

Sorry Caryn and Greg if I didn't say hi, I only met you two once at PvD @ Roxy. Next time I'll make the effort to find TAs.

Hope to see everyone for Marco V!!

Hey Caryn whats up... I had a great time that night at Club tru. Just in case you do not remember, I came up to you at the beginning of the night. Sorry if my friends annoyed you or anything. But anyways That place is not for Mauro. I know he was experimenting with certain places, but I hope he does not go there ever again. The place was empty. Im like something is wrong here. Its the biggest party night of the year and nobody was there. Oh well. Mauro Played a great set. Towards the end of the night Mauro just ripped the turn tables playing hard banging techno to the point where my ears were bleeding.
(lololol) That club did not really promote him that good. He still rules in my book!!

was he in the states anyway?, or did he fly in just for the
Alantic city show?

Dog Running

He was in the states this weekend only. Wednesday was his gig at Atlantic City. Friday november 29th he spun at Club space in Miami and tonight he is doing a Spundae Event in Chicago.

yeah, I mean i am used to a lot of 'standing' from germany, where lots of people don't really dance all that much, but clbu Tru broke ALL records in my books.. seriously, i have never seen such a lame/ sad crowd in my live.

I would understand if Mauro had played some really unknown stuff, but he started off with 'Renato Cohen - Ponta Pe' and there was 'Vitalic - Poney EP' later on (sorry Caryn, but that was certainly not La Rock)

it appeared as much as u disliked the people, they all liked you

that was the smartest idea of the evening.. honestly.

Anyway, the laser was more than sad, it was PATHETIC. It appeared that someone had pre-programmed that thing and wasn't even paying any attention to the music.. later that night, he was a little more on target, but nothing in comparison to 'good/ cool' stuff i have seen all summer..

1. vitalic-la rock 01

as i said that wasn't 'La Rock' but Poney Part 1.. also Renato Cohen - Ponta Pe and i was sure that i remembered/ knew more traxx, but it's been too long

I had a great time.

MAD propz to Ruby for giving us a ride. THANKS A TON.. i will try to repay you, if i can..

honestly, I would not recommend anyone to go to Club Tru, unless you bring your own crowd.. it is just tooo sad what i had to witness last week.

Of course, if you are into standing around doing nothing, then Tru is your club.. or if you are in search for some free drinks as a girl, go there..

otherwise, save yourself the $30.

Bottom line:
You got to bring your own fun, as the crowd won't provide any. If you are in the right mood, which I was, then it will be cool, not amazing.
