I watched Paul Oakenfold using the cross fader to mix at the WMC in Miami. I thuoght most of trance DJs use channel mixing>?

personally, i like to use both to get the mix i want
you don't need to copy another dj
experiment and come up with your own style

I don`t use the crossfader.

I haven`t seen many big DJ`s use the crossfader, and when they did they wanted the incoming song on for just a "short peroid of time"(and the current song off when the incoming song is on for that short period") then quick back to the normal song again.

That was a shitty explenation but I hope you get my point

I think it depends on the equipment. On my stanton, the upfaders make the tune very hard to hear until the last few centimeters, in which the tune quadruples in volume. It's just too fast to get a smooth fade, so I use the crossfader, which has a very nice curve. So I imagine sometimes you would like one more than the other depending on what mixer you are using.
