ok that didnt work, but they said .........

You.ve got clubbers on trance.nu in Europe and tranceaddict.com in America talking about the scene and swapping MP3s of SJ sets, so people don't have to go to a club to enjoy their favourite DJs anymore.

Hey mate, I started a thread on this a couple of days ago. Use the search option next time.

BTW - Noticed you are from Grantham. I'm from Lincoln - but currently in Derby.

Posted by Qtip_00 on Dec-03-2002 20:22:

ok who said that quote? I dont agree with what he/she said. He thinks that since we can download the sets that we wont go to shows. Thats not true. We dont go to shows that are too far to reach. I mean if there is a show which is close like PVD in boston, Id much rather be there then hear it on the computer. Am I right or what?

But its good to hear we got on the mag even though its not exactly the right way we would like to be mentioned. hopefully we dont go mainstream and sellout! backaway leechers

Posted by Prototrance on Dec-03-2002 20:53:

I think the idea behind the listening to set at home paragraph was that we could see what a Dj was like before we go and pay loads of money to go and see them. If you have an MP3 set that you love you are gonna go and see the DJ live - it makes sense.

Posted by spike_boy69 on Dec-03-2002 21:16:

yer like i have loads of sets on my comp, but if some1 like tiesto was doing a local set, i fink i mite just get my ass down there 2 party, i wudnt say no cos i had a mp3 of his!

so you're saying to search before starting any thread to make sure you don't repeat something.. thats unnecessary. ive seen a million favorite song, favorite set, favorite producer threads and they're all the same but people don't seem to care. two of this is no big deal, plus people who didn't catch the first one can see the second - or should they search for it too? i can see it now: "hmm, maybe ta.com got mentioned in dj mag, i think i'll search the forums and see. thats rediculous.

yes

ok, honestly, if it's repeated one time it's not that big of a deal, but when it's repeated thousands of times (omg nooooo!!!!! is audiogalaxy dead?, is the hub down etc) it gets really annoying.

i was being sarcastic... ag threads did get anoying but they were repeated many times a day and you could see at least 2 or 3 on the first page. an obscure topic like this most likely won't get repeated so whats the big deal?

not true at all,

i hardly ever download anything at all from TA
actually i dont even download from here.
all i come here for is this nice trance forum
i like it here

and as for just listening to live sets at home
no way i listen to them but still go clubbing /raving.

i like atomsphere. my house doesn't have 1000+ ravers in here.
and nice lightings.

so not true whoever said that.

thats a load of hog wash we listen to the sets and if we like what we hear we go to see the DJs thats how it works

Posted by torontotrance on Dec-05-2002 15:42:

Heck..if the oppt presents itself then I go see the dj live, nothing compares to being in a nightclub with many ppl like yourself, being lost in the deejay's music.

Where have you got that from??

Posted by MisterOpus1 on Dec-05-2002 16:42:

I haven't read the article, but I don't want to take the quote out of context. That being said, are there any RIAA connotations involved with this, as well as any .mp3 file swapping topics mentioned? The quote by itself tends to bend toward the anti-file sharing movement right now. I could be way off, but it just seems that way.

Posted by demons on Dec-05-2002 18:27:

hi, im the one who said those comments in DJ...just thought id clear up some stuff

for starters, magazines dont print all of the comments/interviews they take from someone, just parts that they feel could be interesting. so it has already been taken out of context by the magazine anyway....

the idea behind that paragraph used was to tell the ignorant music buying, magazine reading, public and industry elitist snobs that they do have something to worry about. that trance has got a lot of passionate followers and heres where they are (tranceaddict) to prove it. if they knew how big it is they could see it blows away most other genres with its following and they wouldnt be so cocky to put it down.

the fact that it mentions mp3s of dj sets and that people dont have to go to clubs to hear their favourite djs set from last night is true. of course clubland is the ultimate factor, anyone with a true belief in trance will uphold the euphoria of hearing a live set in a club...its the matter that someone across the world could hear that set TOO and will want to hear it live when it comes to their country (or creates a demand to local promoters). Or someone too young for clubbing gets into the scene through this and starts when they are old enough. theres only so much they can let you bang on about in magazines you know(unless youre tiesto or someone) ...

neither this nor .nu is a filesharing site so this has nothing to do with the RIAA.

didnt want to burst any bubbles, just bigging up somewhere that i think deserves some recognition for its support of our scene, the one that pays me.
