lol.. what? you're kidding, right?
the stanton integrated cartriges are soooo shit, unbelievable..
i think ortofons (i own 4 ) are the ONLY way to go for trance/prog
mixing. peep da clubs (you can see my backup stanton in the background.. also sucks):

the backup ones are Stanton AL500-II.. I've played with a lot of needles, none seem to be even remotely close to sound quality and tracking. Some of the higher up Stantons aren't bad though. (Except the integrated ones - they suck HARD!)

Just try an ortofon cartridge - it's a whole world of difference, you'll never go back.

Ortofon are cool too but I thinx they are mon expensiv comparing to Stanton ...

yes, for what they are in price, they are definitely worth it
they track very well and the sound quality isn't shit

if you're not up for putting up large amounts of cash for the ortofons, then get these carts, definitely worth it

Posted by montie on Dec-05-2002 11:16:

ortofon all the way. expensive shit, but well worth the price.

Well, I just went apeshit yesterday and bought my first TT. I got a Numark TTX1 with a shure whitelabel on the way with it. I talked to several pro djs about it that have used the table and the cart, and they were very very impressed with all of it! I'll have nothing to compare it to, but I'll tell you what I think after I get it and have a chance to play around with it!

congrats on your purchase! hope yours bring you as much pleasure as mine brought me!
if you can, play with some ortofons (since they are the defacto standard for mixing djs) and let us know how the whitelabels measure up to that. i'm very curious how shure did with an integrated cartridge (because stanton fucked up hard, imo).

I'd like to get the ortofone cartridges that plug into the Technics headshells because I heard the other ones will eventually damage your tone arms. But deffinetly have to agree about the sound quality ;-)

My first pair of carts were Shure M44-7. These have great tracking. I decided to upgrade last week. After hearing lots of good things about the Whitelabels, I decided to go with them. Well, I got them today throught the mail and I have to say I'm pretty dissapointed. The tracking really sucks. They're too light- I have to set the tracking force to 4+ grams to cue right or else I'll miss my cue every time and I'm nervous about doing that because I don't want to damage my records. I really wish I had gone with Ortofone (of course I've never owned a pair so I really can't say if they're any better).

yikes... r u serious?? trackking is bad??? hmmm i guess im gonna have to fork up some money for some ortofons.... i was pretty much convinced that whitelabels were great... untill now. well, keep playing with them and let me know how they hold up.

I love them, whiteL have a great sound quality, in my opinion they are the best !

Posted by `pr0digy on Sep-23-2003 20:46:

In a review I read, it said they had amazing sound quality, and that you could even do some (mild) scratching on them. They did say they had a tendancy to jump when they went hardcore scratches, but I doubt most here really do that anyway. I think I'll stick with m44-7's BTW, anyone who has m44-7's, what kinda price can I expect ? Lowest I've found so far is like 60$.
