Return on DJing?
Ok, I know it takes quite a while to get good enough to DJ at a club, but how many people have had returns on their djing time, i.e. getting payed for gigs parties and such, and how much of a return?
well, monetarily i haven't.
for me the return is the fun of doing it, not in how much i ever get paid. in fact i don't think i will ever recieve money for DJing, and that is fine with me.
i haven't gotten a return on my guitar, my snowboard, my firestaff, or any number of my hobbies, but they are still worth the thousands of dollars i shelled out for them.
ON average its not a very well paying job lol.. its something to do for fun.. i think of it as just promoting the music, and getting a chance to tweak with an incredible soundsystem
and oh yeah
controll the crowd

and the hordes of dick sucking DJ whores.
I personally don't care if i dont receive any money to spin, still trying to find a party or something to just spin for fun, but that is after i build my record collection
i got some money out of it, but never enough to cover costs for records...
but I'm doin' it for fun, and money really can't make up for moments like this:

wow, don't know who any of those people are (cept dawn), but it looks like fun!
someday.. someday..
actually, i find i have the most fun mixing alone, i still get nervous in front of people, that will probably fade after i get better though.

I agree w/ u 100% on that one.
Moments like that are freakin awsome.

LOL @ ur comment....so true....
And for the topic, I don't think u really will gain unless u work many gigs a week or becoming the status of celebrity DJ.
Yeah, after a few gigs u will have payed off for ur tables but the records will get u in the long run.......
I get paid enough to pay for my weekly order of vinyl. I'm pretty close to getting a residency at new Atlanta club which will definitely help pay for vinyl and then some.
The cute girls are job perks.
Connecting with your crowd is euphoric.
djing isn't really about money
if you make enough to cover your vinyl orders, then consider yourself a successful dj
a sad but true fact, not many djs do make it past this stage
