Studio monitors... quality first!
Throw your comments at me - I'm soon to be buying a pair of studio monitor speakers, for which I want to spend around 300-450max US dollars. What are your favorite brands, models etc? There's little point in telling me about your favorite 2000 dollar pair of speakers too...!
So far, the Alesis M1 active MK2's look quite sexy.
I serously need some decent moniters
Hopefully I'll have some Mackies soon
I could pick a pair of those around here for like 1,500.00 candians funds
Just got some good studio monitors $350
www.audiolines.com $350 pair
Behringer Truth Monitors
OH Yeah SPECS!!!
Here are the Specs:
Features:
Two-way active studio monitors
Extremely resilient tweeter with ferrofluid-cooled dome
Long-throw 8.75" woofer
Phase-optimized wave guide for controlled dispersion pattern
Well-balanced vertical and horizontal dispersion for extremely wide sweet spot
Ultra-linear frequency response
Two integrated high-power amplifiers
Delivered in matched pairs with measurement protocol
Overload protection via integrated limiter, separately controlled for lows and highs
Servo-balanced inputs with XLR and 1/4" TRS connectors
back of my baby
Extremely linear frequency response from 50 Hz to 21 kHz
Two high-power amps with 150 and 75 Watts
I agree, the Behringers are really nice (I got them too).
But monitors shouldn't really be reccommended by someone else. Everyone has a different taste. The best thing you can do is go to a shop and do a comparison between several monitors.

U can go for either the haflers or genelec they cost alot tho but sounds just deadly.
Oh man! The TRUTHs are amazing! I just scopped up a pair to complete my sound system. I have them connected to my other baby: RANE MP & XP 2016! These monitor produce such a crytal clear sound. I almost have to train my ear to hear elements of the music I was missing wiht other speakers. These are the best for the money and maybe, just maybe can give the Alesis MKs a run for their money at over a grand!
Happy shopping...well recommended.

| Originally posted by Rememberence_ I disagree for the mostpart. I want a pair of speakers that will reproduce the audio that I put through them as accurately as possible, considering my budget. I don't see how this has anything to do with taste. At this stage I am finding out what is available - their prices, specs etc... when I finally choose what to buy, I may go and hear them, but I'm sure my ears will enjoy them because they will be good quality by choice of specs. Hence this thread, I'm looking for feedback on what choice other people have made, why, and how satisfied they were in the end. In other words, what is popular. Thanks for the info tamtui, I looked at those yesterday and they are some that I am seriously considering! |
well said Thy, advise much appreciated!
Mackies are obviously out of my price range, though I'd be interested to hear the difference between say, mackies, truths, and alesisM1s.
I'm pretty sure in the end it'll come down to picking between truths and the alesises...
