FACT: Paul Oakenfold signed Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince (Will Smith), I believe they are rap artists? so it's not unknown for him to meddle with rap/hip hop

FACT: Bunkka is not shite, in fact it got pretty good reviews, and technically it's a great album, just because you don't like it doesn't mean it's fact, thats an OPINION

FACT: I'm a Paul Oakenfold fan, I bought the album, I like the album, it's got a diverse range of tracks, from genres and artists that have influenced him, it's not a pop album, go listen to zoo york and see if he could release that. Just so happens starry eyed surprise is easy on the ears for MOST people

FACT: Oakies sets aren't boring, well I certainly didn't get bored at Global Gathering anyway, and neither did the absolutely packed out main tent, with god knows how many people chanting his name.

I believe thats 1-0

Starry Eyed Surprise isn't too bad IMO.

its been said before...oakie played hip hop before he ever played trance. who cares anymore.

oh dear.. u didnt rip apart my post. Infact u confirmed some of the points that make Oakie wank. Ie. in the past he has mixed with rap artists, etc. Im not saying this is a bad thing. But most here at tranceaddict.com including urself im guessing do not like rap. Ur gash if u do.

ok thats a load of crap. U totally contradicted urself. U cant say FACT: Bunkka is not shite, and then finish ur post with, "thats an opinion" imo the album is gash. It does not meet my tastes at all, and forgive me if im wrong, but if Paul did not used to be such a legend, im guessing u would not hav even touched this album. The style of the choons is wank imo, very diff from some of his older work.

I haven't contradicted myself at all, read my post again, I was referring to you and you not knowing the difference between a fact and an opinion, you even state IMO ffs. As this is a democratic society ( on the most part) maybe if you can get more people to say his sets are boring than the amount of people that have had amazing times at his gigs this year, I could maybe believe you, but the fact is you can't, cos you'll never get that many people. 3 Festivals, 3 main arenas, all jam packed, with people chanting his name all the way through the set. You get me that interview then mikey, because recently he's been saying he's enjoying DJing more than ever

Oakie as a DJ = Good

Oakie as a producer = A bit dodgy. One or two good tracks/remixes but some are well below par.

You say you've listened to the album a few times?? I'm intrigued as to how you came up with the idea that it's sellout music, sure Starry Eyed Surprise did well in the charts, but Ready Steady Go didn't, Southern Sun didn't do too great (if it did it was because of the Tiesto mix). Lets see how well he'd do if he released Zoo York or Nixons spirit....but then again having listened to the album you'd have known this

I stopped keeping score a while back

"A Good Trance DJ has suddenly gone and made a shit hip hop track and a shit pop album" is the view I most commonly hear regarding his album and Starry Eyed Surprise.

blah blah, album sucks, no doubt, but the remixes have been very nice so far. oliver lieb ,tiesto, etc have turned shit into shinola, and i'm happy for that
