Canadian virtual battle
I've just seen that 900 canadian soldiers got commended for their bravery in a battle that didn't happen. The battle took place in 1993 near Medacki Dzep, and supposedly, the canadians endured 15 hours of heavy shelling and machine gun fire, to protect hundreds of serbs from ethnic cleansing, and during that time, they had 4 wounded, and killed 27 croats.
Now, since I am from Croatia, a country with which Canada supposedly had a battle with, I would like to explain some things. Now, at the time, Medacki Dzep was a part of Croatia occupied by rebel serb forces. The croatian forces moved in, and attacked the serbs. 10 croats died during that fight. Canadian UN forces were very near, and they put out UN flags on their trucks, so they wouldn't be fired upon. The 4 wounded canadians were at that time with the serbs gathering some intelligence data from them. The grenades were thrown on serbian and not canadian positions. Soon the UN decided to make a cease-fire. The canadian regiment moved in, and agreed with both sides to retreat to their previous positions. As the croatian forces retreated, after them came the canadian forces, an right after them the serbian forces, which agreed to move out of the area as well. So the croatian side fired a few warning shots. They were ordered not to attack the UN. As the night came, few shots were exchanged between croatian and serbian positiions, and the next day the firing stopped, and a cease-fire was enacted. In that fight, there were no casualties.
Interesting. Thank you for your input, i genuinely appreciate it.
the media trys to put out all sorts of false and misleading information. they rely on a lazy and uneducated populace to keep their hold on the flow of information.
I get as much information from other sources as i can, but i am always looking for more.
thanks again, and.. i apologize for my countries actions.
It's sad to see that us Serbs and Croatians are still fighting, even nowadays. When will it stop?
I think the whole thing was a publicity stunt to boost morale in the military/faith in the military.
Probably boosting morale prior to possible attack on Iraq.

I'm not talking about wars between the countries buddy... they're over now... But being a born and raised Serb i cant even walk down the street (Here in Melbourne, Aust. ffs!!!) wearing my Crvena Zvezda shirt, without receiving death threats for being a chetnik. And no, i dont go around holding signs saying that i hate croatians... these attacks on myself are totally unprovoked, and
I know that i'm not the only one in this country that has received the same treatment..
It's sad when both my close croatian, and even albanian mates have to tell me that they're sorry for this happening.
Why they bring these wars from back home here to Australia, i dont know....?
a pa tak reci da si odavde =)
I missunderstood, sorry. The emigration is more or less right winged, because most of them fled from Yugoslavia, and the people near the borders still remember the war. Although you must admit that many of the Crvena Zvezda fans were nationalists. There are many skinheads on the stadiums.
i don't know a whole lot about the Balkans as i am not from there, but it's a shame to see so much infighting between so many different peoples in one area of the world. in Toronto there are Serbs, Croats, Albanians, etc. all living in one city and it is not to say that people do not have biases , but you don't see so much aggression against one another.. it's quite peaceful actually.
hopefully that area will one day find some peace..
