Thumbs up The Politics / Debate Forum - A success?

its been just under two months since this forum was made and i for one wanted to say how much i've enjoyed this place. to much to say not enough time to type it all out. this place is definetly the place to go get threads with some substance, effort and thought put into them. the information and opinions i get here is outstanding. i also find that the balance here between left and right is generally about the same and it sure helps out others casually reading to see both sides and judge for them selves.

what have been y'alls impression of this place so far? has it been a success, should there be any changes?

*thumbs up*

Definatly a success, its been wonderfull to be able to participate or listen to intresting discusions on relevant topics without too much flaming.

Posted by JohnSmith on Dec-12-2002 07:29:

Yes, i love this place, it's great. the diversity of topics and opinions is nice, but the best part is the relative freedom of flamers.

if you can't be cogent in this forum, then you are simply ignored, and that's the way it should be.

Smoking ..umm..something

Indeed a success. Actually u stole my idea, Izzy! I(!) wanted to open such a short review thread . Anyways the rate of threads/week has admittedly decreased since the opening of the forum, but I'm condfident that new interesting topics will continue to be discussed on a regular basis. There's so much to argue/discuss/philosophy about..
Oh and Im happy that contrary to early fears this board has mainly delievered highly intelligent debates without any kind of spam/bashing/personal attacks.
Keep it goin' !

hehe ill be selfish and agree that i want more people in here participating. new people will only add more dimensions and differet view points to the debates

Posted by Arbiter on Dec-12-2002 23:00:

Yeah, I'd agree it's a success.

Posted by Renegade on Dec-13-2002 13:30:

Well there hasn't been one topic yet that's descended into flames so we're doing pretty well so far.

Also, there's been a few more topics started in the past couple of weeks, so hopefully that continues.

Posted by JohnSmith on Dec-13-2002 15:10:

whoohoo, go me, i can't believe i thought this idea up!

Posted by drewfactor on Dec-13-2002 19:38:

yes, I agree this forum is a success. I also love the absence of flaming and loads of intelligent discussion happening. I also notice a drop in the pointless "America sucks" type threads polluting other forums. Like it was said, those type of unsubstantiated comments are ignored here.

Drunk asking agian

so now its been over a year for this forum... i'd still consider it a big success, not only that but i think over time i've come to laugh harder and more often in this forum then in any of the others... well maybe JP and Arj have an edge over this place in the humor section.

anyways its cool to see people come and go and i'm almost certain there are tons out there (sometimes like me) who'll read this forum often without ever posting

well maybe this forum name should be changed to

"Middle East Politics Discussion plus any side topics of relative interest"

otherwise its a great place to see what everyone thinks about...

I started posting in this forum more as an accident than anything and have really grown to appreciate it. For the most part, debates and discussions are very well maintained--a positive contribution by all.

PF is my domain I check here before anywhere else, and Ian (Redeye) always knows when I'm in here because I won't talk to him. He always yells at me "Get out of there and talk to me!"

I love the Political Forum. It's probably the one forum that's kept me on TA. I've been posting since about I registered. I love the discussions with you guys.

Dave, tired of my PMs with essays yet?

Yeah I read this forum quite a bit and I hardly ever post here...actually I think this is my second or third time, hehe. Main reason is I've found that most people will hang on to their beliefs no matter what evidence is presented that may be contrary to their opinions (or what they believe to be fact). I know this is true of almost everyone...myself included. Bascially I see my participation in a debate as a waste of my own time, simply because most people's minds are already made up and probably aren't going to change due to a debate. It's that thing called pride that gets in the way.

Hehe, same here. If it weren't for the political forum I probably wouldn't post at TA at all.

Hehe.. Yeah I find this place very useful, yet one of the forums where I post the most. We also gotta give credit to Bush for been part of the founding of the Politics Forum, hence it was during that period of time, when he got elected that all thise I Hate America, Pro and Cons to Bush started.. hence it was better off to make the Political Forum .. hehehe. Either way, this is a great place to see different views/points from different people around the world.

Post some news article in reference to the Middle East Politics Discussion plus any side topics of relative interest.

Not many topics start without some sort of mammoth article that I cant be bothered to read.
