So u discover this huge "reset" button....
in a cave, or whereever. Hehe, point is: You're able to format everything (history that is) and start the history of mankind/civilization all over again. Assuming that no1's completely satisfied with today's world, and some things cant be repaired anymore ever..What would u change in the beta version ?
haha... um ok.... i wouldnt want to do that, that seems to defeat the point of life...
ah, the reset button theory, i know it well.
I've often fantasized about it. I would push this button without a moments consideration. that's right, i'd kill you, your family, your pets, your girlfriend, and all their hopes and dreams. I'd eradicate human kind off of planet earth, and leave only the plants and mother nature.
It is an interesting discussion to have with people. Some will acuse you of being a murderer, of hating life, wishing pain on people. I don't. I hope everyone is happy, and i love life. However, i think it would be better if we started all over again.
I'm reminded of a quote by Maynard James Keenan:
quote:
Mom's gonna fix it all soon, Mom's coming back to put it, back the way it oughta be.
hmm, interesting...
the people, places and landscape would likely change. but if you arent removing the problem, we are still stuck with human kind!

Originally posted by biznology well, i wasnt answering your statement, just the first one. i see now what you refer to...tho removing human life is anti-climactic...since there are no hairless apes to philosophize on the state of affairs!

Nice use of the ol' phrase. (its japanese innit? )
lol nice idea... funny stuff...
kinda reminded me of this one thing i saw a while back on an animal documentary...
of the greater apes we are most genetically like chimps and suprisingly they share a lot of our social actions (leaders, agression, groups, rivalries, etc). if i were to press the restart button i would wish that on the evolutionary path us humans would have evolved more closely to gibbons rather then chimps. gibbons are almost like chimps except they have different social structure that seemed almost utopic (such as no dominance of one over another)... anyways i dont remember the exact info but it was just a cool thought
I'd build a huge empire, back in the old ancient times ( Mesopotamia etc.) expanding it (if necessary by brutal slaughtering) and spreading the idea of anti-materialism. Kinda like the attempted Communist Wold Revolution but ages before the devolepment of extensive trade/capital. Basically establisahing a social utopia before any1 can come up with a better idea. Then we'd see how things develop. This would show if egoism(materialism---> capitalism) is inherent or a social structure.

And even if you would erradicate the human race, sooner or later some other intelligent life forms would appear, and it is doubtful that they'll be more peaceful than we are.
And, we can learn from history's mistakes, although we often don't, so at least now we have a chance to make something go different way. Without it, it would all happen over again.
stop mtv from happening
I would remove Greed, ignorance and hatred out of our mentality. This would change a great deal of things.
But you must wonder if those things aren't exactly what brought us to where we are now. Without greed and selfishnes the world would progress at a much slower pace.
Indeed they are what has brought us to where we are now. And progress would be allot slower, but only in certain areas. Technology would only meet tha needs of society and soforth. People would care more about the power of internal intelect and spirituality than materializm and wealth.
Countries like the US are founded upon the values of greed and selfishness. Without them, your precious capitalism just wouldn't function. If I was able to press that reset button, I would modify human mentality such that people were not greedy or selfish and helping others and society as a whole would contribute to one's personal satisfaction moreso than amassing wealth and power. We all know that communism and socialism don't really work because of flaws in human nature... somebody is always greedy and somebody always finds a way to cheat the system. Therefore we must reset humanity such that those flaws are corrected. A socialist society geared toward helping others and in turn helping society would only slow down progress that was deemed unnecessary (MTV for example.) We would be able to get rid of commercialism and stop living consumer lifestyles... people would be so free and happy.
