The '5 threads in 1' thread

Here you go, comment/argue on any of the following:

1. Die Another Day
Is this movie shit or what?! I am a big James Bond fan and everything but this movie was just so crap and predictable. I almost felt like walking out halfway through. I mean the last 3 Bonds have been gems but this was just crap... an ice palace ffs, wtf is that?!?! Worst bond ever??

2. Tina Arena
Ha, has anyone heard the 'Roc Project featuring Tina Arena - Never'?? Sounds heaps weird having her voice in dance music. The Tiesto remix isnt too shabby but still not my cup of tea. Opinions??

3. Stupid Electronic Engineers
The keyboard i am using is the most worstly designed keyborad ever. Why put the power button right smack bang in the middle of the Enter, Delete and up arrow. The amount of time i have accidently hit the key and turned off my computer is astounding. Does anyone else have this design of crap keyboard? Do you feel my pain??

4. I'm Lost
How far is it from Surfers Paradise to Sydney? In Hours? What ways are there of getting back and forth??

5. HAVE A GREAT CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!!

#1 Die another day
I couldn't agree any more! I was sooooo disappointed with this movie. The plot was pathetic (I mean FFS, genetically bringing back to life a Korean general as a Caucassian then using illegal diamond to build a reflective weapon???). Still, typical Bond. Fast cars (lots and lots of fast cars), a couple of women (no casino bacarah action this time). Mind you the scene where he walks into the Hong Kong hotel was pretty funny And you've gotta love that line "I come compliments of the manager"

#2 NFI

#3 I feel your pain

#4 Brisbane to Sydney is around 10 hours (it's just over 1000km) although my friend says you can do it in 7 if you "know what you're doing" (ie he has a CV radio so he can listen to the truckie channel to monitor where the cops are). Anyway, give me a call when you're coming up Jules!

#5 Merry Christmas to you too man! Have a good one!

Unfortunately, it wasn't as good as the previous three. Personally, I thought Goldeneye was the best Bond ever. Tomorrow never dies was great and the world is not enough was just as good. But this one is just lacking a decent plot. Still go see it - I mean it's Bond, you *have* to go see it. But it's not a movie I'm going to be paying $10 to see a second time.

Posted by Ves on Dec-13-2002 14:48:

1. damn!! i was hoping Die Another Day would be just as good as Goldeneye! I'll still see it anyway, just because it's a Bond film.

2. haven't heard it...is it worth downloading?

3. I don't have that kind of keyboard, thankfully...my keyboard is brilliant!

4. no idea..hahaha

5. MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!!!

:P

sif anyone cares about plot in james bond
he blows shit up, fucks the hot chics and does a couple of car chases and kills the bad guy in the end

it was good

and chics
omg!
miranda frost!
me and my mate waited for the credits to see who she was, then saved it in our mobiles to look her up on the net lol
mmmmmmmmmm shes very cute indeed
im also in love with marie in "the bourne identity", i watched that wednesday with my mum

oh yeah happy xmas to you too

Posted by JayKuE on Dec-13-2002 17:12:

the modern bond films are now too politically correct somewhat. eye candy in the flick are now represented as strong, independent women with a healthy sexual appetite, where as back in the day with sean connery, he'd be truly treating them like objects smacking their asses, telling them they're to leave as its "man's talk" etc. etc.

now sean connery was the man, not pussy lil piercey.

anyhow, merry xmas all.

philby, you're quite the family oriented guy eh. i cant remember the last time i've had a decent conversation with any of my family members, let alone seen a movie with any of them.

Oh man....she was sooo fucken mad, some serious class in that girl!! I loved the movie as well, so realistic..like, in the car chases there wasn't any explosions; just huge stacks hahahah... i happend to have the horrible experience of seeing XXX the night after seeing The Bourne Identity. I tell you, my eyes were burned, XXX was the shittest movie ever. It was actually painful to sit there for the whole 2 hours, the only reason i stayed was because me n two other mates just laughed and paid the movie out throughout the whole thing!!

I havent seen the new Bond yet, but i think the problemo is that its moving away from its roots too much. Trying to become something it wasn't meant to be ya know? Like these days, there's too much emphasis on having cool gadgets and big explosions instead of a quality plot!

someone agrees with me

you have nice taste in women hehe

i havent seen xxx, but i dont really have any desire too either. like your mates, i would prob just pay it out! that can be good fun sometimes, i suggest you watch "commando" with arnie in it, its got some of the most classic one liners ever!!!

haha, you take your bond movies very seriously don't you. Sorry to all those that enjoyed Die another Day, it just reminded me too much of Some Batman movie or something. The opening scene was pretty damn good tho, gotta love the flamethrower.
Can't wait to the next Lord Of The Rings!!

Posted by Mikrop on Dec-14-2002 03:27:

1. Haven't seen the movie.

2. Roc Project ft. Tina Arena - Never (Tiesto Remix) is nice. Not the best, but nice.

3. There is a way of disabling that power button. Stupid consumers!!!

4. Never been to Surfer's Paradise. Went to Sydney when I was 10. Don't remember much.

5. Merry Christmas Everybody. See the MelbTA's and others at Summadayze.

yeah i think some of it was a bit over the top and maybe too unbelievable, but its still a fun movie to watch!

hehe i want to see that too, but by then i would have forgotten what happened in the first one!
(i havent read the books, i tried once but thought they were crap/weird/something)

Posted by DJ Dowlz on Dec-14-2002 06:38:

I've been thinking about Die Another Day and I've worked out that it wasn't the plot that was the problem. It was the action scenes, they were just too unbelievable. I mean Bond is pretty unbelievable (in the course of 20 movies he's probably been shot over 200,000 times and never hit) but the action scenes in DAD were particularly unbelievable. I mean, FFS, the glacier firebeam scene!!! And then there was the riding the wave to safety rubbish...

Oh well, all made up by classic Bond charm and a couple of particularly "beautiful views..."

OMFG I DIE I DIE!

I actually thought it was prety good apart from the riding the wave to safety scene! That was dodge! But I loved the car action scenes. OMG that was mad!
The opening scene was pretty cool, but no opening scene will ever beat the one form Tomorrow Never Dies when he is in the terrorist camp, just blowing shit up then ejects that wanker from the back seat of his plane into the one above and goes "Back Seat Driver" hahahaha

They have like trippled the amount of one liners, they are sooooooo cool!
Stupid one

When Bond first meets Jinx (Halle Berre)

Bond: "I'm an ornathologist"
Jinx: *Looks down obviously towards Bond's crotch* "Now that's a mouthful"

HAHAHAHA

Oh I love those mad jokes "Saved by the bell", "Read This" etc

And I also can;t wait for the next Lord of The Rings. I;m gonna go see it the first day. And watch the first one the night before!
Should be awsome!

Cheers dudes

Haha, yeah there were a few classic one liners in there. John Cleese is a bit of a funny bastard too.

But dowlz i agree with you, that scene where he rides like a 10,000 metre tidal wave with his parachute and some piece of metal from a ice car is a crock of shit. It looked like dodgy 70's styles surfing movies.

Posted by mi7ch on Dec-15-2002 08:09:

i like bond, u just have to look at it ad if its just a cheesy action flick, then ur just there to enjoy it and not have and prejudices that come from the other bonds

and to disable the power hey stick a knife under it and flip it off, i remember doin this back in my gaming days when id always be turning of my computer when i tried to reload.

I haven't seen die another day so can't comment, but personally I think that James Bond films these days are more about advertising products than about entertainment... think of how many labels you saw during that movie?

I saw Spirited Away last night .. apparently the highest grossing film in Japan ever - not too bad either. Kinda weird though...
Hanging out for LOTR:TTT .. I saw Fellowship at 8am boxing day last year, and will be doing the same this year

Also heard very good things about Bowling for Columbine, a film about American paranoia by a guy called Michael Moore (they used to have his TV show "The Awful Truth" on SBS). Apparently very good.

And if the power button on your comp is pissing you off .. pop the button straight off the keyboard, it's very easy to do with a knife or a pen or something. I did the same thing with the Windows keys (the ones you press to get the start menu and stuff) - very very annoying when you're playing counter-strike and accidently hit one of them...

I've been wanting to see Spirited Away for ages. I'm glad that it's weird...I prefer movies to be that way

Bowling for Columbine seems like a brilliant film. It apparently received a 20 minute standing ovation at the Cannes Film Festival...so it looks to be good stuff indeed!

Another film which looks promising is Frida, which is about the life of Frida Kahlo. Hmm, she's such an intriguing artist...

Adaptation and Human Nature, which are both written by the guy who did Being John Malkovich, also look rather interesting. Being John Malkovich was great, so I've got high expectations for those two movies.
...

The girl in Bourne Identity is Franka Potente from Run Lola Run isn't it? I haven't seen the movie, just the shorts, hollywood is a little predictable. Run Lola Run is an amazing movie and has a fantastic sound track!
