I have just heard something very sad.....At Massive in holland Ferry Corsten spinned and afterwards he was boo-ed
by the crowd because he spun progressive??....(please correct me if this is not true It heard it from someone).....well you now see how low the scene in Holland is gettin (commercialized)and goin.......the whole scene being destroyed by TMF and Id&t etc.....because they bring the music to people who do not understand it....When I heard that the LEGEND Ferry Corsten got disrespected like this I almost had to cry....you just dont do that...this really pisses me of....okay the scene will become mainstream you cant stop that but I think this going too fast here in holland and I think this will destroy the (progressive) Trance....
(If this never happened at Massive then I feel stupid but If it ever does you know how I feel)

Sad news:
Sensation Line Up:
Roog
jean
Rank1
Marco V
Michel DE Hey

If u can read dutch look in the DUtch Forum everyones very dissapointed......

whatever IM off

POWER TO THE UNDERGROUND

peace

I was at Massive... and this isn't true

The last track Ferry Played was Chicane -Autumn Tactices (The Thrilseekers Remix)...he played this AMAZING tune for about 2min... and then Ferry had to stop this tune from the organisation (Time = Time) even before the "highlight" of of Autumn Tactics.... so the "boo-ed" was for the organisation I think.

Posted by Nastra Azzurro on May-06-2001 17:05:

Okay thanx
......this is a relief then........with everything else that is happening it could have been true.......but if it was for the organsition than that makes me happy again.

That is bad yes but I think its right when the guy above said that they probably expected him to play his typical style and when they noticed he was playing prog stuff they got annoyed - I for one dont really like his prog stuff that he plays particularly but I loved his remixes under the Moonman guise - that was some of the best uplifting music I've ever heard (Lovechild - Liberta for example) but that still is no reason for people to boo him off - I bet he felt like shit afterwards - I think you may find he starts dj'ing elsewhere now....Im VERY suprised Radio 1 havent tried to get him to do a Essential Mix - Radio 1 are knobs as far as I'm concerned - only good Essential Mixes are Scott Bond's and that one by Mauro Picotto - the rest have sucked - anyhow the crowd @ Massive should be ashamed with themselves - btw were any dutch people there? what reception did Scott Bond get? he is one of my favourite deejays ever - he fucking rules.

oops posted that before seeing that Chicane - Autumn Tactics thingy.

Posted by breakdown on May-06-2001 17:45:

from what i know..
ferry refused to invitation to do a radio 1 essential..
that was end of last year i think..
reasons i'm not sure tho

Posted by mute79 on May-06-2001 17:59:

im really pissed at ferry, he's such a sellout, he was supposed to appear twice in toronto, first time over a year ago, and dude never showed, and then again this winter... i still like his shit, don't get me wrong, but maybe hes just a tad too arrogant? i dunno.... peace

Posted by breakdown on May-06-2001 18:03:

i wouldn't say he's arrogant.. because from what i hear.. he is far from that..
i'm sure there are other reasons why he isn't in toronto....
u should be grateful he even botheres making an effort to go play in toronto...

Posted by Linx_da_cat on May-06-2001 18:06:

this is true...what infin said. i mean sure it's disappointing, but this guys music is massive. when he does come to TO...he'll put on an amazing show for sure.

Posted by mute79 on May-06-2001 18:09:

man, i dunno what to tell u about that, how grateful would i have to be if i was at a party, waiting for him to come up and start his set, and he never comes?! he should take care of his fans, like tiesto, not try to fuck em over...

oh i didn't disagree with ya one bit trancegeek. i was just bein' optimistic. i mean if i was stood there waiting for him to come on and he didn't show multiple times, i would be pissed too. i hear what you're sayin' though.

Posted by mute79 on May-06-2001 18:17:

its all good, i know he's worth the wait, but still...

Posted by breakdown on May-06-2001 18:19:

i dunno
perhaps his plane got delayed
his plane got cancelled
last minute family problems
etc
he does have his own life to worry about too...
i'm not tryin to protect him or anything.. well i am.
but a lot of times, ppl slag of DJs who don't show up.
sure.. some of the time, they don't make it because they're too lazy or wut..
but i'm sure a lot of times.. they have a good reason not to make it..

Posted by Linx_da_cat on May-06-2001 18:21:

yah..but regardless of the reason, the crowd is gonna be disappointed. no doubt. but yes, and from the kind of person corsten is...i don't think it would be because of a lame reason like being lazy and whatnot.

For european trance artists with a relatively small fan base in North America, there's a lot more to think about when flying over here... whether or not he'll be well-recieved is a big issue... most of the major clubs here in toronto are poisoned with house music... lol... so there's a lot more to think about than doing the fans a favour...

i agree, but why not take that chance like tiesto? tiesto was amazingly received his first time around, long before many ppl even heard of him here in toronto, same thing w/ferry...

as for infinity's post, sure, he has obligations to his family and flights and shit, but he's got more obligations to his die hard fans, i mean ok sure, i could understand him to miss maybe one appearance, but twice, thats just bad...

maybe SOME people didn't like the music he played... ... but the biggest part was screaming and applauding for Ferry

But I can't remember the situation very good... I've only noticed the boo-ed by the "Chicane-stop" so...

Posted by magrec on May-07-2001 12:28:

ferry played good @ massive.
he has changed his style completly (compared with 1 year a go) and well he didn't played commercial or cheesy trance he played progressive and well progressive is still not that popular as techno/trance in holland altough it is getting more popular.

And well for that sensation line up well it isn't that commercial.

Ferry isn't quite as big as Tiesto in North America... I don't think any of Ferry's tracks have been played here on any mainstream radio stations, but Tiesto's remix of Silence was played out here to the max...
