How to take pictures with a famous DJ?
I'm going to go see Paul van Dyk on new year's eve (Planet New Years), and I really want to take a picture with him. (not OF him) Should I wait until he leaves? His time slot is 7-9 PM. Or should I ask him if I could take a picture with him while he is playing??? This girl told me that since there isn't enough time for ask someone to take the picture. So just have the camerca with your left arm, put your right arm around Paul van Dyk and take the picture with your left arm. I'm not sure if this method would really work or not, but I will give it a try.........if I get the chance. Do you think it would help more if I speak German? "Kann ich mache ein Photo mit Ihnen?"
Any tips guys?
Many thanks,
Steve
wath are you talking about...
I have worked for that party ... ( flyer , posting)
or try to catch him before or after is set with a friend ready with the kodak !
armin is great about taking pictures
every time i see him he's always willing to stop for a chat, handshake and a picture
but wait till after his set and wait by the booth with a friend ready with a camera
just say thanks for the set, and ask if he could spare 10 seconds for a picture
if he says no... then i guess you're SOL

PvD @ NYE?
thats got to be a good challenge.
catch him after the set
how did u make armin sing on your TT ?
were you talking to me?
cause armin didn't sign my TT
he signed j-spot's TTs though
he went to the hotel the morning after and asked him as they were leaving for the airport
(it also helps that we know the promoter)
working for the promoter works quite well. My best method is waiting around after the set. And as you can see it works quite well. The only Djs ive not gotten that I wanted are Carl Cox and Sasha. Armin was the easiet, Steve Lawler was the hardest(shockwav and I waited outside for over 1 hour for a signature.) If I dont catch them then, I talk to the promoter and see whats going on the next day. Thats how I got armin to sign my tables, he was tired and wanted to go back to the hotel, so I met him the next AM in the lobby and had a nice chat with him and Erica. Got the tables signed(which doenst exist anymore, putting it next to the pitch was a bad idea, it rubbed off)
so ya...wait next to the entrance before or after the set, but go early...like 15 minutes before hes done, because others have the same Idea. Have a pen handy, as well as what you want signed. Dont be all stupid when they come around, act normal, say a few kind words, and thank them. Ask for a picture, dont demand it....ya
and if that doesnt work, try following them. Im serious. I chased Tiesto down for the 2nd autograph I got(I have 3) He laughed and loved the poster I made. Thats another thing..try to stand out, dont bring the same CD everybody else is going to..ya alot of mine are on flyers, but the Tables and poster and t shirt are the most loved. They seemed to enjoy signing them, as opposed to like ok ya sure.
thoser are my tips

ill be at this pvd nye party too in san francisco.
he will NOT be doing pictures because he is on a very hectic schedule that nite. i was denied an interview request with him. i was told he is being rushed into the event, and rushed right back out because he has to catch a flight to LA for a gig the same night
well i plan on chasing armin this sat night! if not for his sig then for his box of records! so he has been warned!

may I ask something, if you wanna get your record signed by a dj, how are you gonna take it to the gig and carry it with you without having to worry about it getting dameged?
DJ interview? Well good luck. I'm only asking PVD for a second to take the picture with me. Shoot, if I get the chance to interview him, I would just ask him one question.....no no no make that a comment. "Release The Space Brothers - Everywhere I Go (Paul van Dyk Rework)"
