I believe it's spanish (?) for "hope"

Posted by BLATTMAN on Dec-15-2002 23:24:

it is.

Posted by biznology on Dec-15-2002 23:30:

umm i think that word in particular is french

but since french and spanish are similar, i will say it still means hope|

Posted by GrimReaper on Dec-15-2002 23:35:

Yep, hope it is.. both Spanish and French. I checked from dictionary.

umm.. Probably the same etymology, but not the same.. French is spelled "esperence" If it shares the same root, doesn't really means it's exactly the same.. :P

I thought it wAS italian, because of how it's l'esperanza not just esperanza... hm

Posted by Lira on Dec-16-2002 04:07:

L'Esperanza = "the hope" in Italian
La Esperanza = "the hope" in Spanish
La Esprance = "the hope" in French
A Esperana = "the hope" in Portuguese

Final conclusion: The sample is in Italian and it means "the hope". Could be Spanish if it weren't by the apostroph and the pronounce (the letter "z" doesn't sound Spanish in that sample). Also, it look like French at all

gooo maaz
but i think there's a flaw,
in french it couldnt possibly be La Esperance since you would join the two words cause the second word starts with a vowel.
it would then be something like l'esperance.

sounds italian if anything
the hope?
