problem with cueing/needles

hey guys

been having this problem for a while and havent been able to figure out whats causing it, hoping someone here might of had the same problem!

when i go to cue the incoming track, rocking back n forwards over the beat, the needle wobbles just a bit, but sometimes enough to knock it right out of place..

i have ortofon dj 'e' carts on technics 1210 decks..

hard to explain... but the blue frame around the needle itself moves from side to side but the needle stays in place on the vinyl..

is the needle damaged? or what about the tone arm weight on it, maybe not enough?!

Lightbulb

nah they arent damaged..

im not sure what the problem is...

could someone with the same setup (tech 1210's / ortofon dj 'e') carts post what weight/height/skating n stuff they use? just so i can see if its something to do with that..

very annoying..

I have the same problem but with 1210 and Stanton 680 EL II... my Anti-Skate is at 0. it sould be there?

is it one certain record? i have a record that does this, and upon closer inspection, i realized the record was stretched! not warped up and down, but stretched slightly oval, like the diameter is a few mm migger one way than the other.

this makes the grooves all fucked, i have to puts tonnes of weight on that record to make sure it don't skip.

this happens to me all the time
its usually a weight issue, and varies depending on the record

most records i have no problem with, but the odd record will skip on the first beat when im rocking it back and forth...usually i just don't rock those records

but when i play them live they are fine, so im assuming its because i have my counterweight set up very very light so i don't damage my needles/records while just practicing at home...and when i play live the weight is set to the max
