If we can keep the free kicks near the box to a minimum watch out imo

Owen - Most overrated Striker in the world imo
Phillips - U never played him when he was at his peak

The only way well get thumped is if Shearer comes back cause he is a class act.

Pffft owen whos scared of that dweeb scored one good goal against argies and thinks england should build a team around him. DOn't u see owen is the problem.

Once again

Bring it

hahaha! thats the funniest thing i've heard all day!..getting told about OUR national fooball team BY AN AUSSIE!!

Owen has scored 13 goals this season, 8 in the premiership and 5 in europe, he also has an impeccible scoring record for Englad as well!

Your obviously talking such utter shite that your cock is still shafted firmly up a kangeroo's rectum!

My advice is to stick at what you do best at -cricket and swimming!

HAHAHHAH stfu was i trashing ure culture or your people i dont think so, i was just stating my opinion on OWEN and the only dangers the england team poses, which is from set pieces. So don't get personal man feel the plur and lets all enjoy the game

And dude I probably been following football longer than u have even though im from Australia, so once again stfu.

That is all

Posted by Volksjoolz on Dec-18-2002 13:30:

what i don't think you understand is that most people in England are born into football- it is life/culture everything many people talk about. so without sounding too sarcastic matey- your talking codshite!

i mentioned the kangeroo comment because your calling yourself the soocerroo's! i thouht it was funny! but if you don't have a sence of humour (as well as a footballing brain) i'm sorry to hear it!

that is all

plus anyone (outside of Austrailia and Newcastle) who thinks shearer should still be an England striker should realise that the guy retired for a reason.

That reason was that his vision/speed/ball control was starting to drop/suffer due to age. I don't underestimate shearers montivation or footballing desire for one moment, but he left 2 years ago now, and there the reasons for it are obvious.

Owen is the best striker weve got, its the delivery to him which is Englands problem!

there is a sport forum. use it.

don't contaminate this place with talk of football.

Good point, but see thats where I disagree. With Gerrard in form full fit + beckham and Scholes playing behind the 2 the delivery is not the problem. Its that 4 th midfielder yes, that is a concern especially since i dont rate Nicky Butt. Probably Murphy who is tearing it up at Liverpool at moment. But 2 me those three mentioned above are a class act and if fully fit creating goals are no problem. Scholes has ahd a stellar last month.

I can see ure point on SHearer, but u must admit hes still an OX in the Box, put the ball near his head and its danger, with owen the ball has to go through the middle where England can struggle sometimes, thats why shearer would be good, through the wings for beckham and gerrard to have a target to hit, and what a target.

P.S Im not a newcastle supporter lol

Alan shearer can still knock them in- theres no question! but as a New and improving England team we need to look forward and not into the past to make us stronger as a side. Our problem as i see it is who partners Owen?..

Heskey- Big Oath who has more off days than good. Good battler and winner of the ball and thats all.

Scholes- Fits better into an attacking midlfield role than a striker

Fowler- Suffered through injury but has a proven past scoring record with owen in the past. problem is he's a similar type of player and the two could overlap in positional play and positions in the box.

Alan Smith - red blooded and tempremental. If he can improve on this then he's a good candidate for the future, too ineperienced at present at an England Level

Vassel- Again only capped 9 times and showed some good bursts and skills, so inexperienced.

and kevin philips- Prolific scorer at league level, hasn't been given any opportunity to show he can repeat this at full national level.

So Mr aussie, who would you have?

Posted by Paulie on Dec-18-2002 14:10:

Me personally ehehehehe

Id probably have Smith in there for sure at the moment.

and to partner him hmmmm obviously shearer but hes retired probably Heskey but hes too inconsistent.

THeres no way they'll play Phillips, he couldnt get a game when he was best striker in premier league theres no way hes gonna get one.

They gotta look to blood young Rooney, an incredible prospect imo

So I guess Smith and Heskey. Whatever happened to Jeffers he was looking good at one stage.

I agree that Scholes shouldnt play striker.

But u must admit its up front where england is struggling as there just no stand out candidates.

Posted by Volksjoolz on Dec-18-2002 14:25:

its not just who's upfront its confidence as well!

Over the few years now its been the same story of inconsistency throughout our games. When England are on form they'r virtually unstoppable but they concede to many weak goals and fall apart from a lack of confidence.

Owen is undoubtable worthy of playing as an england striker, he has scored 19 timmes in 44 caps..thats nearly one in every 2 games! so how you can tel me that you'd prefer alan smith and heskey as a partnership is beyond my own understanding!

You get the ball to owen and 9 times out of 10 he delivers. the stats say it all.

Ok maybe ure right, but i dont know to me owen needs to be given the ball on a plate to have any chance of scoring, ok i guess he got a real strikers goal poching instinct but apart from that nothing special. MAybe if fowler got off the crack he would be a liable option :P

Anyway back to result.
My heart says AUs 2-0

My Brain says England 3-1

Posted by Slade_ on Dec-18-2002 15:24:

I hope Seaman plays

Aussie chance of goal increases by 10 fold

Posted by George Kendall on Dec-18-2002 15:49:

Its a friendly so at the very best I'm saying 2-0 to england. We never play our hears out in friendlies :P

Fowlers hitting form again now(Leeds vs Bolton)but still needs alot of match practice before he can be in the full team again.

Oern doesn't just have strikers instinct, he has SPEED! he can whip past defenders without them even knowing he's there!

I'd say England 3 - Aus 0

This is a forums for the discussion of the UK Trance scene, not a place for bitter Australians to come and bother us with total nonsense. I know you are bitter because your ancestors were deported from our country for stealing loaves of bread, or because they were such failures they had to emigrate to a penal colony, but that is no reason to come bother us.

So in conclusion go to the sport forum if you actually want to talk about sport (which I doubt), you dirty convict.

you're mental Jas
Shearer is still banging them in (leading scorer in the premiership I believe), Owen hasnt scored in nearly a month....
also James Beattie should get the nod, emile heskey should be shot, and Alan Smith should get in as well, cos if the aussies have Kevin Muscat, we might need him
It's gonna be a rugby score win tho

Posted by Technaut on Dec-18-2002 19:26:
