Arrow Who likes Fischerspooner?

I just recently found about these guys with their first (and only) remix of Kylie Minogue's Come Into My World. Very nice remix IMO. However if you're into electro/synth-pop (that's how their sound is described, don't really know about that) you might really like it.

Biography
Critically acclaimed electronica/performance art group from New York. The group's founders are Kasey Spooner and Warren Fischer. Their live shows feature up to 15 people on stage, costume and all. Musically think Kraftwerk, Daft Punk, Depeche Mode, Gary Numan.

Discography

Productions

Fischerspooner - #1 (Album)
1. Sweetness
2. The 15th (also known because of a remix by Gabriel & Dresden they did recently)
3. Emerge
4. L.A. Song
5. Tone Poem
6. Horizon
7. Invisible
8. Turn On
9. F*cker
10. Natural Disaster
11. Ersatz
12. Megacolon (Hidden Track)

Remixes

Kylie Minogue - Come Into My World (Fischerspooner Mix)

They only did one remix so far, because they never wanted to make a remix of a song. They made an exception for Kylie. Maybe this'll remain the only remix they ever did

(NOTE: WARNING!!! Fischerspooner is absolutely no trance. If you're gonna listen; expect some experimental-electro-pop-breaks or something like it )

I like very much emerge. Great song.

mixed opinions. I didn't like Emerge the first time I heard it, but the more you listen, the more the (somewhat stupid) lyrics catch you. I like it now. I was pleasantly surprised when PvD dropped a four on the floor remix of it (I think the EM @ Columbiahalle on LP weekend).

I like Fischerspooner. Emerge and the 15th are awesome

Posted by Djeebie on Dec-18-2002 18:21:

Emerge and The 15th are my favourite songs too! The version Paul van Dyk dropped was, if I remember correctly, the Dave Clarke Remix.

[EDIT]I searched for it; it was the Love From Above Set (12-07-02) by Paul van Dyk.

01. Project Medusa vs. Exor - Moonshine (Exor Mix Part 2)
02. Klea - Tic Toc (Magik Muzik Pauls Re-Edit)
03. Vert Sky (Magik Muzik Mix)
04. Misja Helsloot - First Second (Original Mix)
05. John Askew - The Door
06. 4 Strings - Diving (Original Mix)
07. Marco V feat. Lesly Hendriks - I Feel You (Paul van Dyk Remix)
08. Rapid Eye - Circa Forever (Rapid Eye's R.E.Mix)
09. The Moon feat. Nu-NRG - Supersonic
10. MMDC no more rain (Malte & Marc De Clarque)
11. Oceanforce - Euphoric Dream
12. Analog System - Stupid
13. Fischerspooner - Emerge (Dave Clarke Remix)
14. Blank & Jones - Suburban Hell
15. Tayfum - Der Traum (Energie Berlin)
16. Antiloop - Trespasser (Robbie Rivera Remix)
17. Prime Mover - The Weapon (Grinder Mix)
18. Reloop - Fucking Society (Censored Mix)
19. Innercity - Good Life (Remix)

Don't look at me if the wrath of angry TA's descends upon this harmless thread. The arguments over which remix PvD played at Columbiahalle were so intense that the thread had to be closed

Well, this thread is about Fischerspooner and not about a remix Paul van Dyk played. Don't have to go all over that again

I'm dying to get "The 15th (Gabriel & Dresden Remix)".

Posted by Tsunami One on Dec-19-2002 01:03:

#1 is the biggest piece of filth ive heard this year.

Posted by JMF [TrAcId] on Dec-19-2002 01:05:

the Gabriel & Dresden, and the Sono remixes of the 15th are wicked
the kylie minogue remix is unbelievabley good

and BTW... it was a PvD 'bootleg' remix that he played at Love From Above

no, no, no, no!!! If you want synthpop buy Cosmicity or Iris, or listen to the oldies... Here's some good synthpop I recommend..

check out stuff by Cosmicity & Iris, they write good synthpop. Buy Cosmicity In Perspective album, it old songs he wrote in the mid-90's inspired by Erasure, the classic synthpop group. Iris has an excellent album called disconnect. His new song is absolutely fabulous, classic synthpop with a nice warm bassline.

check it out here.

sorry I just cant stand it when some joker makes it in the mainstream and claims he's making synthpop & then acts likes he's the only one doing it. Yeah, well maybe on MTV he is, but I dont give a crap about MTV.

Posted by Ves on Dec-19-2002 07:07:

I think Fischerspooner is quite good.
My favourites are "Emerge" and "Sweetness". However, there are some really shite tunes on #1, like "Tone Poem". eghhh...I can't stand that song.

Easy man I never said the guys of Fischerpooner said they were making synth-pop nor did I label them as synth-pop. As you can see I said that this was how their sound was described, but to me it isn't synth-pop. It's just a description about them I found on the internet. Don't know about the exact style of their music, not really important IMO. It's a combination of styles. Anyway most people know what their music sounds like or what to expect.

i like some of the tracks on #1 and thought others were crap. fischerspooner is sort of like sigue sigue sputnik all over again : ).

i believe "electroclash" is the moniker tagged to this type of sound.

ps. would be nice if they released some new songs. how old is #1? two years?

Posted by estes on Dec-21-2002 19:27:

i like emerge...orig and westbam mix.

Posted by joeh on Dec-22-2002 02:27:

There alright i suppose.

They are widely credited with bringing down Ministry of Sound Records, if only that were the case .
